Lol at putting one of the best strikers in the world in midfield

You do know of course that in a recent (post retirement) interview - Paul Scholes said that Rooney could easily play his role (with a calming of his temprament admittedly)

If anyone should know, imo, the player who used to do that role (excellently it has to be said) should know :D

(Im not suggesting SAF will do this - or that it should be done, Im just pointing out what PS has been quoted as saying recently)

Barca may as well start playing Messi at left back then

That is not even close to a comparison though, Rooney often drops deep and runs at the defence, is instrumental in creating attacks. Messi is an attacking player not a defensive based player and would easily work as an AM or 'deep lying' forward.

I do feel that Rooney could play that Attacking Midfield (in the hole) position very well. He links the forwards, spreads the play and can score goals... The question is who do you sit behind him?

He's allowed to drop deep and generally go wherever he wants because he's got a midfield behind him. Putting him in the midfield to start off with would be no more beneficial than when he was stuck wide with the so called license to roam

I wonder when people will stop thinking just because Rooney excels in the number 10 position that means he can play midfield :o

So Arsenal have had no influence on Fab what so ever? I have heard some rubbish from you lately but that is the best that has come out for a while. At 16 Fab had already learnt all he could in his trade and none of the Arsenal staff or players made him into a better player

You really might want to go and watch some games from Fabregas's debut season and see how much of the finished article he was the day we bought him. Arsenal have had VERY little to do with how good he is.

Messi, Fabregas, Ronaldo, theres a few players frankly that would be the same player no matter what club they were at, there are phenom's in every sport, every profession, every speciality in the world, guys who are just brilliant at something with little to no teaching. Fabregas, within 3 months of being in the first team was in the top 3-4 players in the team, thats not from Arsenal training.

Again ignoring most of my post, if someone joined at 24, played till he was 30, and was only a little better at 30 than at 24, you wouldn't remotely pretend that player was a product of the YOUTH SYSTEM(this is what YOU said), neither was Fabregas.

Please point out in my post where I said he hasn't learnt anything at all from Arsenal staff. You changed the argument to suit your point, you said Fabregas was the product of our youth system, was Pires, was Henry, was Gallas. No these were all guys who learnt football elsewhere, came to Arsenal and two of those improved, countless other older players joined, played almost straight away and improved, none of whom were a product of our YOUTH system, neither was Fabregas, pretending otherwise is just daft.

Wilshire trained for years at Arsenal, and really no where else, and we didn't buy him at 16 and put him in the first team, he IS a product of our youth system.

Now come back to this universe and YOU point out where I said he was a product of our youth system? Quote me. Oh yeah you can't because I never said that did I. Talk about being a hypocrite.

I questioned your `opinion` and despite what you think, your opinion is just that, opinion, not fact, that Fabregas had no influence in becoming the player he is today thanks to Arsenal.

Seriously, are you on drugs?

Again ignoring most of my post

I will just stick with this advice from you thanks. :D

In Hearts news which actually makes it onto the front page of BBC football - they've parted company with Craig Thomson after his recent conviction. Not really what you want to be making news for but it'll be interesting to see if anyone else is willing to pick him up as he's a decent footballer when he's not getting in trouble like this.

With a calming of his temperament?

You do know who Paul `Red card` Scholes is right? :p

I think he would fit in there nicely lol

still unquestionably one of Utd's and England's best AM's of his generation, yes I know very well who Paul Scholes is

When the best players in the world have acknowledged he was their equal - I dont think anyone here has much weight to disagree.

As he knows Rooney's game, and knows what is required to play in Utd's midfield he probably has more sense than anyone here as to who could do it to the quality required (and there is a hot new striker or two nearly every summer, yet top quality AM's are seemingly few and far between and cost a fortune)
