We should have sold a few players last season, Arteta, Rodwell especially! Problem is we don't have enough time to find a replacement for him, so I think it'll not go ahead. Even if they offer us £15m+, how could we get a replacement of equal or greater quality, with only a few hours remaining. If they would have done it weeks a go, when they knew Cesc and Nasri were going then I guess it would have been better. Obviously more than £10m though.

If this gets accepted, especially £10m I can see Moyes walking.

Is Rodwell playing? He seems so hyped up and I don't think I've ever seen him play...well? (Maybe 2 seasons ago vs Man U when Everton won 3-1)

Maybe harsh, but a player that every Man U fan seems to want to buy he seems very over rated, is it just a FM11 thing?

Mertesacker is a brilliant player. Shame he's gone to Arsenal. :p

He doesn't have to do much as its fairly easy to get a foot on the ball when your legs are approximately 5 foot long.

Well tbh we need a pretty tall dominant player in our defence so we dont get bullied by the likes of Stoke;):p...im hoping that he sorts our defence out, bit disappointed that Cahill coming to us is as about as likely as Santa Claus turning up at my door:p...would have been a good decent signing but i do like Mertz, seen him play for Germany and hes pretty decent.

its ok we'll loan you coaquin

Errrr... thanks but no thanks. :D

Ok dude, im only reporting what SSN are saying...there hasnt been any formal bids made according to sources at Arsenal...the rumour is that we might offer £10mill....lets see what happens.

People on Twitter, few Arsenal sources and Phil McNulty saying it's been made but was rejected. We're hoping to see how much you'll give us.

He was injured a lot last season. But he's meant to or was meant to be the next world class centre back. That's where he has played all his life and when he was in the reserves. But Moyes started playing him CM, or right wing like he did against QPR  He isn't a centre midfield, he doesn't pass forwards at all.

Pretty much, which is why I can't find a single Everton fan that will be sad to take 15m for him. Manu fans starting hyping him up more than us and yet no one even knows where to play him.

Barkley will be the next one they start creaming themselves over. I suppose that's what happens when we are skint and they haven't brought through a decent young player since living off the 'golden generation' :D

So Man U fans never watch him then? :D

I think he was ear marked as being a up and coming centre back, but since then has plateaued due to Everton playing him out of position and he's had a couple of injuries hasn't he? :o

Still got bags of potential mind.

Arteta seems past it, Cesc down to Arteta would be a bit of a joke, but then again, Theo UP to Arteta would be an improvement. I like him, always liked him, and he had 1-2 great seasons but the last couple have been dissappointing. He does have experience but, he's essentially winding down as a top player, I don't think he's good enough right now and he's unlikely to get back to his best at this point. I mean, Hazard/Mata is the kind of guy we want/need, and Arteta is just, incredibly underwhelming in comparison.

I mean we did get 60mil + from Cesc/Nasri, is there any reason we can't spend 60mil on two midfielders, m'vila/Hazard?

With Wilshire out we HAVE to get someone who can play in the middle at least some of the time, and we still desparately need a DM.

Three signings were encouraging, but not even half what we needed and its looking increasingly unlikely we're going to get in anyone with even close to good enough, nor the numbers we need.

Our left back is still the only one in the squad who is likely to be fit all season. CB we still have no clue if Verm is going to play much this season, I actually quite like Jenks so we've got first team and backup. DM, nothing, right wing, we need a starter, AMC, we need someone good enough to carry the team when Wilshire isn't out. Essentially we need AMC, DM, Wilshire. If Wilshire is playing we've just got another great player in with him sharing the work and making it harder to mark one player out the game and shut us down, and if he's injured, someone to take over.

Those other two midfield slots are crucial frankly.

Out of position? I suggest you get on the phone to Everton because they don't even know if he's going to be best in Defense, DMF CMF or AMF. He's being played all over because no one seems to know where his best position is.

Which is why the talk of him going anywhere is 2 or 3 years premature. Feel free though for 15m :D

He's a centre back who can do a holding midfield role isn't he? Naturally a centre back? He's got bags of potential but he's plateaued so much recently.

My club can't afford £15 million ha

Seems I'm not the only one who though he was a centre back too :o

Can't help but think Arteta for £10m is a bit of a waste for Arsenal. A poor mans Fabregas, who's past his best and struggled with injuries over the last couple of years.
