Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

Rooney gets a lot of hate but he did a good job for most of his time and won it all at Man Utd and it's good to see him go back home instead of going aboard.

He hasn't really been at his best since SAF left.

prob good business for both teams with rooney and lukaku, Not sure on the quoted 70mill for Lukaku but seems to be the going rate at the moment

Robbo put it perfectly, fantastic but so long overdue. Unfortunately has been a burden to the team and the club over the past few years, what with this huge wages and poor performances. Sky Sports shared an article of someone stating he was a a 'model professional'. I ******* strongly disagree with that statement. Yes, an excellent footballer, yes the club's now record goalscorer, but a model professional he is not. Nevertheless I am glad to see him move on, and i do genuinely hope he does well at Everton, not against us, but Ander Herrera for captain? Anyone? :p

Rooney has done the absolute minimum he could without being a **** the past few years. You have a very simple job as a professional football player.

Eat well and stay in shape.

Maintain match sharpness

Work as hard as you can for the team when you play.

I would argue that he hasn't done any of those three to the standard you would expect of any footballer let alone one on one of the largest salaries in world football.

Great player in his prime but he has let himself, the team and the fans down the past 4 or so years.

I'm not sure you can criticise his effort when he's played. His lifestyle off the pitch is another matter though. He hasn't taken care of himself off the pitch and that, combined with the miles in his legs due to how young he came onto the scene meant that he was always going to fall away a lot younger than most players do. Because of the way he looks after himself (or doesn't), people often over look that although he's only 31(?), he's played more games than a lot of 35 year olds.

He contributed to the best part of 400 goals directly (253 goals / 145 assists) in just under 560 apps, and for anyone that is fantastic.
As mentioned above its just a pity the last 2 or 3 years especially have been so disappointing. Even without taking the astronomical wages into account (where Moyes / the board have to take their share of the blame)

After the last two years have dissipated from the memory he will be considered more of a legend than he is today

edit - someone needs to edit his wiki page, the stats box looks severely out of date

It's hard to separate your off the field effort from the on field but he hasn't bust a gut in plenty of games the last few years. He sauntered about. Letting yourself get so out of shape that you are incapable of being effective on the pitch is not ok.

I know he was never going to be playing at 36 but a massive part of sport as you get older is your fitness and diet.

You honestly think that's good business for everton? It's terrible business, may have got a little out of him if he'd got the intended boot if fergie stayed at Manu, but he's way past being good enough even for Everton. The whole myth about him being a midfielder when he slowed down has been destroyed, I don't know how much of his wage is being subsidised but it better be a lot. It a backwards step for a team making progress again after clearing out that smiling retard.

I was quite liking Koeman but this is about as stupid a move as I have seen, does he want to slow us down even further? Hell sign Giroud and give us the slowest front line in the football league. 50k fine, let us stick him on the bench for the odd bit of impact when everyone else is dead, but 150k, Pathetic.

Wouldn't Arsenal or Man U for that matter (both teams who have spent on their strikers this summer) have been better of with Aubameyang?

40 goals in 46 games.

I'd imagine discreet enquiries were made on behalf of around half a dozen clubs and were rebuffed or told a figure for wages and transfer fee Dortmund would expect/demand. Or that he only wants to leave for Real Madrid and any other bids or negotiations were largely pointless.

Aubameyang is nothing like Lukaku, Mourinho likes a certain type of striker.

I think Lukaku is much better than Lacazette, but time will tell.

What kind of striker because if it's a big player to hold up play when required then that's not lukaku and he has nothing like the first or second touch of drogba. They get compared because they are both big and strong. That's where the comparison ends.

Large and able to score goals, I think. :p
