Summer Transfer Window 2017/18 - Rumours & Signings

he didn't look the slightest bit interested last year, not sure who's going to be willing to pay what Leicester are going to demand for very much a one-season wonder thus far?

A bit out of the blue, we've signed Dominic Solanke from Chelsea:

Assuming the sides don't agree a fee between them then a tribunal will set the compensation fee.

So a 19 year old and a 16 year old Bosnian. Yet more signings with "potential" , which will end up barely playing, then going out on loan somewhere, then being sold for a token fee. Meanwhile, our rivals are already splashing the cash. I can already feel that I am going to be disappointed by a transfer window yet again.

I agree.

I would be surprised if he moves to anything above mid table.

... Has the transfer market officially even opened yet Tombstone!? Relax brother!

Tbf Arsenal do need another tricky attacker that lacks fight when the going gets tough.

It's May! The transfer window hasn't even opened for crying out loud.

Fans having a meltdown over Solanke are just being ridiculous. Its actually a very good signing...young talented British forward who can play all across the front three...if he doesnt work out then he sells for 5 times that value in a few years. Win win.

I guess I am being a little preemptive, thats probably because I dont expect we will buy any big names at all, will all be "potential". I'm a little pessimistic when it comes to us and transfers, too many experiences of missing out on people because we've waited and waited or tried to get them cheaper. I hope this time I will be proved wrong

You're a bunch of miserable ****s :p

Look at our transfers last summer - Karius, Matip, Klavan, Wijnaldum & Mane. Klavan was ultimately brought in as cover but of the 4 main signings 3 turned out to be undoubted success's. If any side manages to bring in 3 players that go on to improve their first team as much as Matip, Wijnaldum and Mane did then they'll have had an incredible summer. I'm sure if I looked back 12 months ago there would have been just as much moaning from you lot though.

Haha I just don't think as a club we will spend or even buy the players were linked with not at the fees that are being touted! He'll least if I assume not happening and in reality it does then yey :D

Who cares? All that matters is the end result. Everybody wet themselves when we were linked with Gotze and then went mental when we signed Mane instead. How'd that work out? For the first time in 10 years I'm confident about a transfer window - we've got a club being lead by a manager with a clear vision of what he wants and I'm happy to trust him to sign the players that will make us stronger.

Like I said, look at last season. We didn't make the glamour signings everybody wants but we made signings that we needed and improved the side. If we have another summer like last and bring in 3 players that have as big an impact as Matip, Wijnaldum and Mane then we're going to be a very strong side next season.

Lets hope you're right, I will try to have more faith that we can challenge for the title next season and try harder not to let my desire for a truly marquee name signing to take me over.

Club briefing about De Gea:

Manchester United hope to resist Real Madrid's attempts to sign goalkeeper David de Gea again this summer.

Real, who aim to become the first side to retain the Champions League when they play Juventus in Cardiff on Sunday, agreed a transfer deadline day deal with United for De Gea in 2015.

The £29m transfer collapsed because Real did not submit paperwork in time.

It is anticipated the La Liga winners will renew their efforts to sign the Spain international keeper.

De Gea, 26, was left out of United's Europa League final line-up on 24 May in favour of Sergio Romero.

United have noted reports in the Spanish media, which tend to be the prelude to a concerted effort to sign a player when a club knows negotiations are not going to be straightforward.

However, the Old Trafford club feel they are in a better position to reject Real than they were two years ago.

In August 2015, De Gea had just entered the final year of his contract.

His current deal lasts until 2019 and he also has the option to extend for an additional season.

Senior United sources also say De Gea has not asked for a move, or expressed any discontent with his present situation.

I hope he will stay but it's fair to say I'm not counting on it just yet.

Unwittingly I think this must be one of the 1st times City have actually helped us - if they really are about to pay ~£40m for a relatively untested Brazilian gk , and if reports are true this is also the kind of money Real are prepared to offer for De Gea , Real will soon realise it will take a lot more than that to get the deal over the line.

It's amazing that City just keep on spending £40-50m on players. Season didn't go as planned? Spend. Has to be a better way surely.

I think transfer fees are just going up and up. If you want the most talented young players, they'll cost you well over £30m if you're a Premier League team, and the ready made ones will be approaching the £60-80m mark.

Then again, Monaco have just signed Tielemans for £21m, and he's highly rated and looked good against us.

But when you look at what they have spent and looking at their squad, they shouldn't need to do it at the moment. Maybe it's all the managerial changes and the new managers not wanting the player brought in by the last guy but if Pep is all he is cracked up to be, work with the amazing squad you have to make them better.

I don't think Pep is all he's cracked up to be, but I think it's only fair he has another season and we'll find out. There are weaknesses in the Man City team despite the big spending, it's the same for the Man Utd team.

I think, like Mourinho, Pep just doesn't like some of the players he has, no matter how good they may be.
