Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

I mean, Barca should have continued to try and use La Masia to feed their first XI. By all accounts they are still producing lots of talent, its just not being promoted or managed in the same way as it used to and as a result has basically contributed almost nothing to the first team in years.

When you have Presidents being voted in by the fans with big promises about buying this player or that player unless they come through they'll never get voted in again. It's like playing politics except the barca fans are more ruthless than the populace in general.

Oh I agree. It sounds like the whole system from top to bottom has been shaken up from when Barca were the best team in the world with most of their team from La Masia. Even the youth system which should be insulated from the first team politics to a certain degree wasn't immune. It sounds like the biggest change was from "how did the youth team play" to "did the youth team win". Very much the attitude I experienced playing football growing up in England. Win at all costs and worry about how you win or what player qualities you are promoting last.

Interesting that it seems City just paid Grealish's release clause. Didn't realise that.

Also sounds like they are probably done in the market unless they can sell a few players for serious money which I doubt they can.

Kane going to have to accept that he will probably finish his career at Spurs without any trophies.

I am worried that we will end up buying him when in reality we need a CDM. I am also annoyed that we are going to end up playing Leeds with Sancho and Varane on the bench and not even starting!

May be a big ask for Varane, but I would have thought Sancho could give it a go at least for a half. Excited to see whether we go in a positive direction this season though, for sure. Also, another signing please!

Kane's going to City. Spurs will make him put in a transfer request, they'll tie a signing or two up and then accept £80m + 1 or 2 City players in exchange.

Don't know if it's genius or suicide from Villas perspective. Set the clause at a record high so that it's unlikely anyone will offer but still be just affordable enough that it'll pretty much pay for a whole windows worth of signings. There will be a lot of the more 'reasonable' fans getting ready to spring if we end up tanking to the bottom of the table mid season though. No one player makes a team, but Grealish really tied us together and his absence was ALWAYS felt when he was injured.

How would that work with FFP? Like how are these players valued?

Pep just said they sold 60 million worth of players so Grealish only cost 40 Million. Man Cities squad is so full of talent they could easily sell a couple of players to bring in Kane and still have the best squad in the league.

Any players part exchanged will have a value placed against them and the difference between that figure and their book value will be recorded as a profit (or loss). For example if City signed Kane for £80m + Bernardo (valued at £40m), City would record a profit of circa £32m on Bernardo's sale and assuming Kane signs a 5 year deal, Kane's fee (from an accounting point of view) would cost City £24m on this years accounts. So from an accounting/ffp point of view, City would actually profit from the deal but only this year. Kane would continue to cost them £24m per season for the next 4 seasons or until he renews his contract or leaves.

Pep's exaggerating on those sales but that's not how it works re ffp.

Which two players would actually want to go to Spurs though? They are on their backside. The only players i can think would make that move are the likes of Ake and Mendy.

No idea but Pep's confirmed that Bernardo + a few more all want to leave and there's not a big market for these players right now. It might be a choice of Spurs or sitting on the bench at City next season.
