Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

Let's not fall for the crocodile tears, he was all set to leave 12 months prior until he read his contract and couldn't leave.
He's been there 21 years, you don't think it's acceptable he's upset to be leaving, regardless of the circumstances?

His contract expired on 1st July so he's a free agent and Barcelona would have to register him again which they can't do unless they get their wage bill down.
This was my understanding, it's not possible for him to play for nothing at this point.

PSG's starting 11 is going to be ridiculous this season, champions league or bust.

Then why is he going to PSG. The guy has more than enough money to worry about anything for the next 10 generations of his family. If his love for the game is that strong why doesn't he challenge himself and come to the Prem?

I am 100% sure that Stevie G, Paul Scholes, Alan Shearer, Le Tissier would all play for free if they had to because they love their clubs.

Not sure why you quoted me because I didn't infer anything about his desire for money or his love of the game.

"Challenging yourself" in the prem is such a little Englander view. Maybe he wants to live in Paris and doesn't want to live in Manchester? Maybe he wants to play with neymar, mbappe, etc? Maybe he wants to work with pochettino? Maybe he wants to help PSG win their first champions league?

On your last point, I'm 100% sure you're wrong.

They absolutely wouldnt have played for free.

RE Messi coming to the prem. What are you picking...Manchester or Paris?

Which kind of begs the question why were they signing new players when they can't afford them even without by far the biggest wage earner off their books?!

Were they really staking the whole house on the ESL that much?

It's beginning to seem like it! It's hard to believe they wanted to lose Messi in this way.

No dont be silly. Their chairman is on UEFAS board he wouldnt risk doing anything to jeopardise that.
and that's why they were all out at lunch for all that week. All of them. No they didn't keep receipts. And the restaurant was paid in cash so there's no credit card trail to say who paid. How is a 7 day meal unreasonable? Haven't you ever been taken to Monaco? I mean... err. It was the manilla envelope convention in the hotel and... they just had to see if it was something they wanted to start collecting, and err. Fancy a drink and a chance of a booth at the finals? Sorry Messi who?

You are telling me that if Liverpool were in a situation like Barcelona is in now and prime Gerrard had to have a massive wage cut he wouldn't take it to stay at Liverpool? He had many offers but stayed loyal. Just like Paul Scholes.

A massive wage cut is different to playing for free. And he'd already accepted a 50% cut.

And even then Barca couldn’t register him as a player. They haven’t even registered Aguero or Depay yet! Their wage to income ratio is still way too high, like a million euros a week or more too high. They need to get rid of several highly paid players. Players like Coutinho and Griezmann need to be sold on the cheap to get them off the wage books.
