Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

I'm going to throw this out there as a Liverpool fan - I'd like to see us plump for Maitland-Niles if we could get him on the cheap. Obviously not as a starter, but he'd be a solid backup right back, and could also do a job in midfield from time to time.

Edit: also obviously I'd like to see a proper first team player come in, but I think AMN would add depth to a couple of positions in which we need it

I don’t see that he’s better than Elliott or Jones? Or even Minamino or The Powercube Shaq?

Also FWIW I’m still surprised that loads of teams aren’t queuing up for Shaq. He was one of the best Swiss players at the Euros and for what we’re asking, £12-15m apparently, he will be great. Surprised Norwich or Brentford aren’t in for him tbh. Wages maybe?

He's a good player from what I've seen of him, and not as controversial/erratic as say an Arnautovic or Ibrahimovic etc so yeah I'm surprised too. How old is he? Is it because of age or something?

He’s 29 so while no spring chicken a team could easily get 2-3 seasons out of him and as he ages he has the passing ability to work centrally as well.

They absolutely wouldnt have played for free.

RE Messi coming to the prem. What are you picking...Manchester or Paris?

Colour me prejudiced, but I can’t imagine anyone opting for Manchester if the alternative was Paris.
Plus I have an ear for the Argentine vernacular, and between Messi’s sobs I distinctly heard him mutter, ‘I was sure that Moyes would have come in for me, estoy triste!’

No I agree. But they play different roles (AMN is much more defensive), and we lack senior cover at right back. For me, selling Shaq (who I rate but who won't get a game) for £12m and getting AMN who plays in two roles where we need cover would be smart business

Ideally I’d like a midfielder but hopefully if the cbs can stay fit we will be alright.

You are quite happy that Gini hasn't been replaced? He has played 40+ games for Liverpool for the past 5 seasons and must be one of the first names on the team sheet?

It just seems to me that Liverpool have had the opportunity to have a great dynasty but haven't spent whilst they are at the top.

Chelsea and City will obviously be favourites this year but I can see Liverpool struggling in the league with squad depth. Especially with Afcon coming as well.

But they kinda have in Konate. Henderson and Fabinho will be available now (providing there isnt another injury crisis) in midfield every game. Liverpool do have quite a lot of options in the middle. Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Jones, Milner, Oxlade Chamberlain, Keita and Minamino.

I would like another though and there is injuries in them.

He'll be on three or four times the amount any Brentford player is on I reckon, plus we typically like to sign players with strong resale value. Not one of our types of signings.

We've got Yoane Wissa from Lorient joining this week. Potentially Cajuste from FCM and Vagnoman from HSV added later.

Anyone can reel names off a list but Gini was easily one of your best players. None of the ones you mentioned match his talent and can do 40+ games a season.

Most clubs don’t have 3 world class midfielders…

Thiago when partnered with Fabinho was excellent last season. When he was playing the game he was brought in to do.

Looks like Shaqs leaving now so I’d expect a another signing to come in.

Gini needs replacing, we haven't been able to rely on keita since he signed, he hasn't managed even 30 games in a year.

Ox I rate but has had injuries too, Jones is still young.

Henderson/Fabinho are the two we can rely on, thiago we will see jury still out for me, don't doubt his ability at all but he hasn't been able to play his best yet.

Henderson is also getting on older side and the rumours or the contract issues for him aren't good, I'd rather we did get a youngish midfielder in who can be around for fair few seasons

Not replacing Gini like for like is obviously a risk, but I can't think of anyone who'd be capable of that and is available. If a good deal comes out the woodwork we should go for it, but nobody seems to have emerged as a clear target and we have the squad to work around him leaving.

exactly. They aren’t going to just sign someone just because.

It's not a case of signing some one just because, but there will be players out there. We have scouts who cover the world for god sake.

We still need an attacker for me but I don't think we will get any one else in despite klopps "might"
