Summer Transfer Window 2021/2022

And even then Barca couldn’t register him as a player. They haven’t even registered Aguero or Depay yet! Their wage to income ratio is still way too high, like a million euros a week or more too high. They need to get rid of several highly paid players. Players like Coutinho and Griezmann need to be sold on the cheap to get them off the wage books.

I think they'll be giving Coutinho away tbh

Paris is the most overrated place on the planet, there's a reason why Paris Syndrome is a thing, not sure why anyone is labelling it as a positive. There are many lovely places in France, Paris is not one of them, or even close.

Went there once. There’s a couple of nice spots, but for the vast majority, it felt seedy and run down. Didn’t feel the safest of places either, some right shady looking characters knocking about. The metro was a dingy hole compared to our subway system.

Paris has its bad points like any city but if it’s Paris or Manchester for a multi millionaire it isn’t Manchester is it.

As someone like Messi, it will be easy for him if he does sign for PSG. No travel restrictions due to covid, closer to Barca as he won't need to travel that far, as I don't envisage him moving his family out of Spain.

Yeah, but lets not pretend Messi is gonna be jumping on the subway :p

Interesting to hear that Villa were trying to put off selling Grealish to City as they're wary of them simply becoming too strong and dominating unchallenged in the Premier League.

I'd have thought City being out alone with others playing catch up would be better for the likes of Villa, rather than a few sides battling it out at the top.

I did my fantasy side ages ago... might have to swap out Watkins and Kane!

Seems hard to believe honestly. As you say, City have no bearing on Villa at all and I would be amazed if they give a single **** about the league beyond their own position in it. £100m for them is good business.

Only makes sense if we're lining up another midfielder and this helps fund it, he's one of our only goalscoring midfielders.

It probably also highlights how difficult it is to get rid of the deadwood we have.

A few rumours knocking about of Origi to West Ham, I think the only business we have left now is a few side players being sold like this, I dont think we will be buying in anyone else now at this point.

Klopp hinted that we would be buying somebody after the match yesterday.

I'm not sure I believe the Bowen links. It feels a bit like the Lewis links last season with the club briefing the wrong names while they're negotiating else where.
Did he say in what role?
Nope. He was just asked about transfers and he said he's happy with the squad but something might happen before the end of the window.

Ahh, well something "might" I guess but I dont think it will and of course theres a world of difference between might and will. It would be welcome but at this point I'd be surprised if anyone of substance was bought in now

Given that Klopp typically says we're not likely to sign anybody and we go on to sign somebody, I think it's very likely that we will.

At the moment we have 26 over 21 year olds, 18 of them non home grown and we can only register 25 with 17 non home grown. As soon as a couple of players are shifted out (Karius, Shaq? Origi? Phillips? Williams? etc) I think you'll see at least 1, if not 2 players arriving. So many clubs want and need to shift players on and everybody is waiting until the last minute to make their move to get the best price. We don't want to sign anybody until we've cleared room in the squad or we'll be bent over when it comes to shifting Shaqiri for example. If we sign his replacement first then buying clubs will know we cannot register all our players so will have all the negotiatin power. Equally if we're in for somebody like Renato Sanchez (for example as there were some reports earlier) then we know Lille are desperate for the cash so the longer we leave it to more likely they are to drop their demands.

I hope you're right
