Summer Transfer Window 22/23

For me a basically 100m player should be getting 15 goals in all comps
All comps? 25 g/a is a pretty realistic target I feel for someone that is moving for 100m, I'd be expecting that sort of return from Darwin for example, hell I dont think that's to far a stretch for Diaz and he's half the price of Antony.

Would you be happy to send Antony on loan if he wasn’t good enough?
If the problem was that he wasn't getting enough football (presumably because someone else was doing better) and he needed that to reach his potential then of course why not?
If Antony has the same g/a as elanga come the end of the season, for arguements sake we'll say less than 10, you'd be happy with the 100m man equalling that?
I'd be no less happy than I would be with Elanga only reaching less than 10 G/A. Why the **** does it matter who is underperforming?
The question is not so much whether you would accept a poor performance from a cheaper player, as everyone should be 'good enough' regardless but more so whether you accept an expensive player only delivering 'good enough'.

If you're happy to judge everyone against 'good enough', and not expect more for your money there are probably far cheaper players to be getting through the door. What's the point in spending fortunes if you don't expect them to bring higher standards and better outputs for the money?

No point buying a Ferrari if you're only worried about everyone achieving Audi performance.
Except at big clubs the performance level expected is Ferrari level, regardless of price or origin. I've given multiple examples of this that people are cleverly ignoring. Do you think Barca will accept poor performances from Pedri just because they got him for under 5m? Of course not, if he underperforms he'll be sold and replaced with someone else like hundreds before him.
you just screwed the pooch with that statement mate. Expectations and subsequent treatment of players by fans is absolutely affected by their transfer fee, especially in the short term.
Short term yes, there is usually a little leeway given to new transfers settling and academy kids, but long term absolutely not. Did Rashford escape criticism last season because he was an academy kid for free? Of course he didn't. people expect as much from him as they do from huge transfers.

I can see a lot of people have been suckered in by media agendas here, don't feel bad it's what they're designed to do. If you look beyond it though you'll realise that at the end of the day it doesn't matter if your winger cost 100m or 20m, you still expect the same level from them.

When has Elanga shown he can produce more? I thought I was being generous with the 10 g/a personally :p

If you are having to send a player that cost 100 million out on loan as they are being outperformed by someone considerably cheaper then they've failed massively. 100m players are the finished article or as close as you can get - see Pepe for arsenal, he's not being sent out on loan to reach his potential he's going so they can hopefully recoup some of the fee when he's sold.

Well he only came in part way through last season and his output wasn't terrible considering how bad the team played. I'd certainly expect more for him if he was a regular starter this year. Despite the fact he financially cost very little (oh weird that)

Pepe is 27, of course he's not being sent out on loan to improve. He's just a bad transfer that they're trying to reclaim some value on if he has a good season. Would it have been a better transfer if he'd been 20m? Financially sure, but football wise, no.

Do you honestly have the same expectations for Elanga as you do for someone like Sancho? Do you even have any expectations for players? The bear minimum that they should be doing? You'd be 100% fine with Sancho going out on loan in the January window if he carries on producing what he did last season?
Where's sancho going to play with Antony coming in btw? You now got nigh on 200million euros of right side attackers kicking around the club.

Of course price will affect expectation and reaction, but there is always a lot of extra pressure at the top clubs regardless.

Antony may not have the most impressive stats but he looks very dangerous and Ajax fans say a lot of the many chances he created weren’t finished off. Not that we’ve got a potent striker unless Ronaldo decides to find his old form.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing him play, he looks a genuinely explosive player. Fingers crossed.

I hope we’re still looking to add a couple more players and offload Ronaldo but I think it may be too late…

Massive transfer fees do sour signings a little bit for me simply because its very hard for any player to "justify" their fee or give you that feeling of finding a hidden gem or developing a player. Its silly but its simply the truth.

Personally I don't really base my expectations on a price tag, especially in our current situation as we have to pay over the odds. Sure I expect the big names to perform better than the young guys coming through the academy but as long as the player fits in, whole team plays well and we're getting results I don't care who scores or gets the assist.

If both are first choice for the team then I have the same expectation for them obviously. Do you think I have less expectation of Malacia than I do of Dalot because he was a bit cheaper? That is nonsense, who does that? Sancho will likely start on the left as it's where he prefers to play.

In other news, 38m Diallo has 4 offers on loan

However, there are four other options on the table for Amad and his representatives to consider. They are reportedly from Belgian side Anderlecht, Turkish outfit Besiktas, as well as Championship sides Blackpool and Sunderland.

Like seriously how bad is this kid that no side in the EPL, Serie A, La Liga want to give him a chance for a season?

Did we completely buy the wrong player here or something?

Most likely there’s an expectation that they pay some of his wages. That could be north of £50k a week. For many clubs that’s way more than they can afford.

Yeah but how can championship clubs afford that but EPL or La Liga clubs can't?

It doesn't make sense.

On 9 February 2021, Diallo was found guilty of violating the Italian Sports Justice Code in order to join the football club "ASD Boca Barco" in 2015 under the name "Diallo Amad Traorè".[1] He was accused of falsifying documents in order to fake a relationship with Hamed Mamadou Traorè, an Ivorian citizen resident in Italy, and request a family reunification.[1] Diallo requested a plea bargain, with the Federal Prosecutor's Office imposing a fine of €48,000.[1]
