Summer Transfer Window 22/23

His price has pretty much trebled in the past 2 months, Monaco and his agent have played a blinder. He's a cracking player but for that sort of money, hell no.

Obscene money which we weren't ever going to entertain. Fair play to Monaco, they've done really well out of it.

Talk of Nunez now hindering on what happens to Mane. Looks like we have enquired but are put off by their silly valuation...enter Man United.

Dominic King and Paul Joyce pushing the Nunez to Liverpool links this morning. Joyce saying we want him and he wants us and it will just come down to whether we can agree a fee but King's going one step further and saying we're willing to break our transfer record for him.

I won't pretend to have seen a huge amount of him but in the games vs us last season he looked very good. Having a more natural number 9 and particularly one with a bit of a physical presence will give us something we've not had in a long time and he should thrive on the crosses we put into the box but just watching back some highlights of his game at Anfield, he's pretty mobile and puts in the work tracking back too so hopefully we won't have to lose that side of the game from our CF.

Nunez undoubtedly has talent, he scored 34 goals in 41 games last season. You dont do that by accident. He has a goal every 2 games average across his career so far, again...you dont score every other game by accident.

However, IF he does sign for us I hope he drops all the playacting and stupid behaviour ingame. Not tolerating that sort of nonsense. Seems to be an inbuilt thing in Uruguayan players.

Not convinced by Nunes personally, his all round game is very lacking according to the more in-depth analytics types. But if Klopp and the team want him then I would assume that's something they believe can be improved and molded. The fact we're now being linked with actual 'traditional' 9's does suggest a shift in tactics next season though.

Oh and I wouldn't want Abraham either.

I know, which is why your Uruguayan comment was so so terrible.
Its just that I've seen several Uruguayans play and most of the ones I've seen have such habits on the pitch, Suarez does it, Valverde does it, Nunez does it, Godin had a habit of it, Aruajo does it. Hence why I said it seems to be something common amongst them. Seems like a fair assessment based upon a (admittedly small) sample of experience of Uruguayan players.

Honestly, diving is part of the modern game and if you don't play the game then you simply don't get decisions. Its been encouraged for decades on the continent and I don't know if we have adopted it more and more due to being at a disadvantage in Europe if we don't but thats just the way it is.

The main difference in our diving and the more continental sensibilities is the desire to get the other player booked with play acting. Neymar is the best example of this. Whenever he goes down he looks like hes just had a career ending injury as he rolls 7 times after getting his heels clipped.

I thought that last nights Eng/Ger game was quite interesting in that the referee wasn't giving those "he touched me" fouls and they dried up very quickly. Shame that doesn't happen more often.

It's probably best not to judge an entire nation on the actions of 3 or 4 people :) Coates, briefly, played for us and I don't recall him doing it, I don't recall Cavani doing it nor Torreira at Arsenal.

Those are definitely the worst, it makes me fume when you get playacting like that, its pathetic, does the sport no favours in the eyes of those who already claim its a sport for cats and children. Its even worse when it results in a card for the other player. Frankly anyone who condones that or even merely accepts it, has no place in this forum imo.

As I say, all of us can only base something upon our own experiences of said thing.

If I watched 8 Mexican boxers and 6 of them consistently left their guard hand low, then it wouldnt be an unreasonable assessment for me to say "it seems like Mexican boxers have a habit of leaving their guards low"

I'll speak to the admins and see if we can add a rule regarding this for you. We'll also make it harder for Uruguayan's to sign up too.
That would be great on both counts, could you also extend that rule to include people who make sarcastic or facetious posts too :p
