Summer Transfer Window 22/23

Our interest in Martinez was as a LB, where Zinchenko usually plays. Both are capable of covering in Midfield so I’m assuming that’s the thinking behind the rumours. Aware Martinez is a CB but with Saliba coming back there’s no room for him to play there.

You werent looking at Martinez for lb...come on now.

Currently unclear. Perhaps some sort of compromise can be reached.

Barca are treating him like dirt though, just so they can buy more shiny new players to impress their fans.

Still, I hope it will benefit us in the end.

Do you not think at some point United just have to walk away. I mean he's a decent player but he isnt worth all this nonsense and that huge fee. He isnt pushing for a move either and if anything he wants to stay where he is.

United have completed the signing of Eriksen on a three year deal. Good player and hopefully he will be useful for the team. If we can sort out FdJ, fix whats happening with Ronaldo and then bring in a RB I will be very happy with the window.

Didn't play as a 10 did he? Whenever I saw him play last season he was further back in general than when he was at Spurs.
No he didn't, he was pretty much smack bang in the center circle according the heat maps.

Bit of a weird signing for me.

Pleased with Eriksen. Should be able to make a good contribution without much fuss. If he’s on top form, no reason he can’t make the first choice 11.

FDJ does not want to leave Barcelona. Whilst im sure the 17mil is a factor, that can be resolved what cant be is FDJ not wanting to leave.

I would be telling my company that I love them and don’t want to leave if they owed me €17m Euros.

I don’t think he does want to leave but he’s not stupid. He knows he’s being sold. He’s just keeping quiet until his missing wages are sorted. I would rather play for Barca than United as well despite being a United fan. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t happily play at United.

Most players aren’t at their dream club.

Lol, yeah it's because we didn't have as much of the ball as Spurs do in general, so the whole team has to play a little deeper.

But he was in general the most advanced of our three central midfielders.

Spurs and Chelsea's window starting to look really good, as much as a meme spurs are, their transfer window has been the best in the prem so far.

They have a world class manager for once, so you would hope for improvement. My team isn’t in the PL unfortunately (local fan), so I just want to see as many world class managers and players brought in as possible. As a neutral it just further improves the viewing spectacle. :)

It's nothing to do with City being dodgy. Haaland and his agent negotiated a release clause that gave them huge leverage with potential buyers. They knew the fee City (or whoever) had to pay Dortmund was a fraction of his true value, which enabled them to negotiate big fees for the player, his agent, his dad and pretty much anybody that said they knew him.

It's no different to when a player joins a club on a bosman - a sizeable chunk of the money the buying club has saved by not paying a transfer fee ends up going to the player and his representatives.

Won't it be visible on City's accounts?

I appreciate the buy out clause may impact things in this case. But why aren't we assuming that other transfers also have these hidden costs?
