Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Naby and Ox could never be relied upon, no loss there - Would have loved to kept Bobby, but given how many forwards we have it was inevitable we had to lose one of them, and it looks as if Doak is the guy to step up and replace him in the forward line. Hendo/Fab and Milly were the other 3 and always the brunt of the top reds that roam around twitter. Seems Klopp sanctioned the deal for Fabinho with his blessing, the only one he was surprised at is Hendo.

If you look at the midfield options last season:
Henderson
Fabinho
Milner
Ox
Naby
Thiago
Jones
Bajetic

Compared to what we have currently:
Mac Allister
Solazabel
Thiago
Jones
Bajetic

I think we'll get one more in this window (Lavia), with another in January (hoping it's Andre myself as I'm sold on him after watching numerous clips of him the past month or so ). Given the Henderson rumour about being told he would be given less playing time this season that would indicate he'd be a sub option, are we really massively weaker in midfield compared to last season? maybe options off the bench but they were hardly game changing options imo.

We know we were looking at Colwill, it would seem that it was that option or no one as there are still no solid links to a CB, whether we actually make a move next window is up in the air (if at all), I think Quansah will be making the step up to the 1st team squad this season, with Matip going on a free next year and we'll look at a Robbo replacement then too.

If the squad stays fit, we're challenging, same sort of injuries that have plagued us the last few years and it's CL spots for me.
You can strengthen all you want, you ain’t challenging City with Haaland at City. Everyone’s scrapping for CL places until either Pep or Haaland leaves.

Is there a good "go to" Premier League podcast?

I struggle every season with trying to keep up with the ins and outs of other teams, maybe get to watch 1 or 2 matches on the weekend and never liked watching MOTD and the catch up shows, but listening to them during the commute is not a bad idea.

any one got some recommendations, weekly recaps & bit of banter - a bit like talk sport but without Jamie O'hara?

We certainly have the bones of a good team. Just needs fleshing out with some squad depth. Need the owners to put their hands in their pockets. A couple of injuries at the moment and we are stuffed.

and yet ironically the points tally they got last season would have one the league once between the 15/16 and 21/22 seasons. Also a difference between winning and challenging, I assume given your little statement that Arsenal weren't challenging last season?

Some said we were, I always knew we’d blow out eventually. Other teams just haven’t got the squad depth to go the distance with City. Might have the numbers, but not the quality. I don’t think they was even concentrating on the league last season, and they still won it by a margin. Now the trebles wrapped up, they could well put more effort into other comps again.

Its a sad situation but it’s become a one team league the last 2-3 years.

Football Daily or totally football show with James richardson if you want generic, all team pods. 606 ones are worth a giggle on a monday morning

If you want one that covers everything the "The Football Ramble" is pretty good. They release loads but the main show on a Tuesday is the one I listen to the most.

Lineker is about to start one tomorrow with his company called the rest is football (joining politics and history from the same stable!) it's him, Shearer and Richards, imagine it'll basically be like those MOTD top 10 ones they've done.

Laughing and giggling like kids every 10 seconds?

Savage and Sutton have turned it into a talksport show. Its god awful with those two doing it.
to be fair I haven't listened to a football pod in ages - I just remembered the Sunday version used to be Kelly Cates and Ian Wright and the 2 donkeys did the saturday one, shame it's changed.

Matt Turner offer accepted by Arsenal hes on his way for medical

Guess that signals Raya to Arsenal deal has been agreed

Arsenal could net £10m from Turner sale

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign goalkeeper Matt Turner, in a deal that could be worth up to £10m for the Gunners.
Forest will pay an initial £7m + £3m in performance related add-ons.
Turner is on his way to Nottingham for medical.

Such an odd signing Raya is. It's debatable whether he's any better than Ramsdale and he's too good / expensive to sit on the bench.
I think he is better, at least statistically, but Ramsdale is clearly an important character at Arsenal and was a big part of a very good season last year, is still improving, and has done nothing to merit not being stood by

Tyler Adams to Chelsea is on. Weird signing, I mean he's good but going from Caceido to him seems a bad alternative. Breaks up the play, loads of energy but no passing range. I guess he will be there to sit on the bench!
