Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Meh 6’s are evolving. Think that tifo even mentions he’s more like an 8 but even 8’s are no longer 8’s.

Seen him play few times and I do like him. Caught Bruno on the ball when we played Southampton and carried the ball up the pitch which lead to a goal but then we smashed them.
Genuine question, do you want a name change to represent your position as our resident statto?

Another £25m on the Lavia price tag needed by the evidence of our second string (probably also known as the first team by the end of the transfer window) getting pumped by Gillingham.

Utter shambles, as someone on the saints forum just said we need to make all deals for our good players a buy one get one free with one of the terrible ones just to get them gone!

It's probably us having agreed a stupid sell on clause with City that's holding it up, we probably need £50m+ headline just to clear £10m into our own coffers.

Nah, City have a £40m buy back clause which kicks in July 2024 and a general 20% sell on clause. That's the issue. Soton want the £40m because they're convinced that City will activate that 40m clause and sell him on next season. At least that's their play. AND they also want 20% of that to give to City. Thus £50m.

It's all BS as there's no guarantee City are paying anything for him in July 2024. And anything over 120% of the £10.5m, minus the amortisation of him over the contract Soton paid for him is actual, real profit.

Liverpool are being very generous and have greased wheels. A fair bit of genuine WTF from that end that bids have been refused. Esp given the bids are considered well over valuation. Chelsea have been sticking their beaks in, which has complicated things but the player doesn't want to go there.

It wouldn't surprise me if he ends up moving for less than the £40m. Probably undisclosed. If he's still at Soton after deadline day there will be A LOT of unhappy agents involved. Some of whom have already got the hump with Southampton. A lot of people have been working on it. So many I sort of know one. And they know someone I know very well, which is why I know what I know.

I think that last sentence is highly doubtful given that it's widely reported that we've offered more than that already. Whether it's generous or not and whatever his real value is, everything is a negotiation. He's clearly the midfielder we want and how much he ends up costing will depend on just how badly we want him specifically and how desperate Southampton are for the money. As things stand Southampton seemingly believe that our desire and need to sign him will ultimately lead to us paying more than we have and we seemingly believe that ultimately Southampton will be forced into accepting less than they're currently asking. It's a case of who blinks first.

Im watching Fluminense vs Argentinos Juniors specially because of a weak link to Andre. So far hes walloped someone, lost the ball in his own box and thrown himself to the ground after a nothing challenge. Sounds like fun...

Sign him up.

Gk warned about time wasting 20 minutes in. PL could learn a thing or two.

It just wouldn't surprise me. Him and his agent are set on him moving and are arguing the toss over the City's buy back clause, which is what Soton have essentially set as a min fee release with +20%. They're arguing that that's not what they agreed to when they signed the contract.

There's other agents involved from City's side who are just looking to take a cut now, which further undermines the premise that they'll fork out the 40m buy back next summer.

Feeling is Soton are very much overplaying their hand and are p!ssing a lot of people off. Ward-Prowse's reps are unhappy too. West Ham basically laughed at them (Soton) and left the room. No-one wants to deal with them.

All sorts of people being dragged into it. My friend is an HR consultant. Is a friend of a friend of one of the agents and had phonecall with them about what they thought about certain clauses in the contract. Essentially looking for ways out of it. They've never been called up by football agents before. I wouldn't know about it happened to talk to them about something else yesterday, for the first time in ages and we ended up chatting about that for most of the call.

Newcastle United still weak at LB. BBC Gossip page today reporting (via the Telegraph) that Sociedad are looking at taking Kieran Tierney on loan but NUFC have been linked with him loads. Unless the player really wants to go live in Spain for a year mind.

Probably just pap. Only real CB I think we have been linked to is Anderson from Palace. Carbon copy of Schar with slight improvements and no pace!!!

Seems pacy defenders that can pass, big, good in the air are like unicorns and priced accordingly hah

Such an odd signing Raya is. It's debatable whether he's any better than Ramsdale and he's too good / expensive to sit on the bench.

Arteta wants competition in every position, Raya hasn't been bought to replace Ramsdale, so he doesn't need to be better, obviously Arsenal want him to be good though, he obviously thinks his good enough to start ahead of Ramsdale or the wouldn't have signed, and Ramsdale himself has stated he welcomes the competition.

Overnight talks to see if an agreement can be come to for Kane.

I'll be quite disappointed from a football perspective to see him leave the PL. He's an incredible player but I also really enjoy seeing records broken and moments of history so I was hoping he'd go after the all time league goalscorer.

Who can blame him though - get's to live in Germany and the potential avenues that opens for his family, play for one of the biggest institutions in football and will have a decent chance at the Champions League.

Paqueta is clearly a very good player, WH was not the club to showcase that. Not sure his price should have gone up as mentioned above. I'd like to see him in a top team who play football.
