Summer Transfer Window 23/24

I'm really not happy with Maguire.

I know he's entitled to sit and collect his money, does he not care about his career? He won't feature much for us unless we have a lot of injuries. I think we'll sign another centre back so he'll be 5th choice.

He's become a hate figure for a significant section of supporters, and this will make it worse; he will be abused, derided and viewed as avaricious.

Also, he's unlikely to be playing for England either if he's not featuring at all for the club, although Southgate is useless so you never know.

But ultimately, he has woefully underperformed for us since he joined. Was it the clubs fault he started having a fight with Greek police and got arrested? No. His form fell off a cliff after that (wasn't great to start with anyway).

All that said, the club should have just paid him off. £7m is not that big of a deal and him remaining at the club could cause some problems.
A bit sad really, they've given him the opportunity to leave gracefully and play in a team that doesn't show up his weaknesses so much.

He'll play the odd game as injury cover or in cups, his glacial pace will get shown up again, he'll concede goals, and get more boos from the crowd.

It is possible for players to get quicker (Mike Brown in rugby spent a lot of time with a specialist sprint coach and improved immensely).... but slabhead seems to be irremedial. With Casemiro taking on similar characteristics we can't afford to have him in the side at all anymore.

I went away for a few days, I take it I didn't miss too much?
Was just discussing lavia on talksport and they reckon poch will play both caicedo and lavia with enzo as he likes two dms
We're reportedly after Doucoure now, how are Chelsea planning to fit him into their side?

Hall to Newcastle has exploded. 30million offer has been doing the rounds. Would be completely chuffed with that deal even at 40m

Livermento and Hall hah one can dream. Two young very talented fullbacks

It's not quite correct that Liverpool got Alexis and Szob over the line because they had buyout clauses. Those players still had to choose Liverpool.

The issue with Caicedo and Lavia was not that we didn't have bids accepted - we "won" the bidding war for Caicedo and ultimately had a £60m bid in for Lavia which would have been accepted. The issue was that the players chose Chelsea.

I agree, however, that the general situation and the way it's been run is a mess.

According to reports today we're signing Doucoure, Amrabat (we've signed him 4 times since January), Andre, Palhinha and Gravenberch. I'd take these reports with a massive pinch of salt at the moment - there's a lot of agents drumming up interest in their clients and or lazy journalists.

True enough but the Amrabat one seems slightly more solid than others as its coming for some Dutch news outlet then don't tend to spout off about baseless transfers like the other links we've seen today - Gravenbirch being the funniest

A Dutch outlet running a story about an Moroccan player moving from an Italian side to an English side. Yea, they're likely to have their fingers on the pulse with that story.

edit: and David Lynch has already rubbished claims that a deal is close and stated that we're not going to move for him either. I am shocked.

Someone from Stuttgart too, Wataru Endo

No, literally nothing like the journo I scoffed at - that journo's reports were repeatedly wrong though I should add. He was a Belgium journo reporting on a Belgium player. And I have no idea what was reported re Lavia over the weekend as I was away.
