Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Great move by Bellingham. He will win everything.
Not according to the people on here that think the English clubs are going to dominate Europe. That's a bargain for Madrid, far too cheap. He will have a 500m release clause keeping everyone away like the Spanish normally do and then flog him when they have used him for more than that to Man United when his knees are shot. I mean every single club in the top 6 would have matched that fee or bettered it, so he clearly has no interest in playing in the PL.

That Bellingham fee is making us looks a bit stupid
I get that but the money doesnt stop there. How much is he likely to be paid? I imagine it might be well up there with VVD,Alisson and maybe Salah...then what happens when Trent renews next season etc. Then the issue with his dad and agent wanting a slice.

This. We could sign three midfielders. Imagine signing Bellingham alone and he ends up injured for half the season like VVD or Thiago or Diaz or Jota. Then we'd look like prize plums for signing one midfielder. We've signed a world cup winning midfielder for £35m and by the looks of it Koné and Thuram will be coming for £40-£50m each.

If we only have £100m to spend this year we are deep in the *****

Though I fear that may be the case

If we sign two more midfielders I'd expect a Summer spend of around £130-£150m. Anything above that will be reliant on sales to generate anything more. Klopp, I believe, wants another CB, ideally one who can play RB too as a minimum.

Some mental numbers doing rounds. Most are for defensive midfielders.

No way the lad from Brighton is worth anywhere near 70m and I like him.

Can’t believe people think 35m is cheap hah.

In the current market, for a world cup winner who is still only 24, it is. Sadly.

With the Mac deal and selling Cucurella to Chelsea last season Brighton really don't need to sell, especially with the admittedly lower earning, but still additional income they'll get from the Europa League (Which they could easily do very well in), they have no need to sell Caicedo at all. Which puts his price up by £10-£20m. They'll pick up one or two players cheap and bring them on like they have done many times.

It's the way of the world now. Any player bought by a 'big' club is automatically priced at £20m+. Personally I still think a lot of players are overpriced, I mean I would have thought surely with all the scouting networks and what not that good prospects can be unearthed instead of splashing tens of millions on players that might not improve the team massively. Take Cucurella for example, was he really that massive an upgrade on Chillwell that it warranted spunking over 50 million quid on him? The "amazing business" (c) Gooners of spending £72m on Pepe I was never convinced by either. At these sort of prices players need to be genuinely transformative, really moving the dial for their new team. I'd argue that £89m on Bellingham or whatever it is is actually better value than some of the dross being passed around for 50-75% of his pricetag.

Liverpool's twitter account hinting that a Mac Allister announcement is imminent. Now sign a big powerhouse that will win some battles in midfield, a CB that can play LB and another midfielder please.

Announced in SSN and talksport, but talksport announced 55m? Thought it was lower than that. Edit, SSN saying 35m initial fee could rise to 55m. Looks like a good deal.

£20m add-ons for a £35m transfer would be a bit unusual. The Times are reporting it as £35m, saying that was the clause in his contract which wouldn't be surprising. Given that he signed his last contract with barely 6 months to run on his old one, he'd have held all the cards and I can't imagine he'd have wanted a particularly large release clause in it.

Seems like most add ons these days are fairly easy to achieve so you might as well include them in the headline amount. Do these get added to the amortisation amount of the contract? I assume they do.

I'm not sure add-ons are typically easy to achieve. From the few deals that have been made public, they are usually a mix of easily achievable and more ambitious add-ons. And they will be amortised but they'll only come into play when they're triggered. So a £30m transfer with £5m add-ons after x games are played - the £5m will be amortised over the remainder of the contract once the player has hit the set amount of games.
