Summer Transfer Window 23/24

Not sure I agree with this. Players will often move for money if it leaves them with a potentially successful team. I could understand a player going to Chelsea over Liverpool or Arsenal, for example, because Chelsea will pay you over the odds and will be a good team in a good league. Going to Al Hilal is basically admitting that if someone gave him enough money he'd agree never to play football again

This is only really valid when you're talking about 'normal' market conditions. Ie, normally a player is considering an offer from two relatively comparable clubs offering a relatively comparable package.

But if you've got an offer for potentially 3x more money than anyone else is offering you, then of course some players will decide the extra money outweighs the 'damage' to their career, in terms of reaching the highest level they can.

It's no different to any other job though. If you were offered 2% more to work in a "lesser" job for a few years, you'd likely not take it. But if you were offered 200% more.....

Chelsea looking like theyll receive what they paid for Koulibaly from a PIF owned Saudi club despite him having a dreadful season. Not dodgy at all, honest.

The same PIF that's a contributor to the majority shareholder of chelsea, clearlake capitol you mean? Don't be silly, that's crazy talk

Hopefully it all comes crashing down for those involved, unlikely, but it's a travesty how they've let all of this unfold. The fit and proper test must be akin to one of those pointless questionnaires you get during a shopping experience.

People get what they wished for ultimately. This could’ve ended at Abramavich but now the Premier League is being systematically sold to the highest bidder.
Golf as well.

Then again professional sport is more about money than sport. Boxing, F1 etc, snooker to some degree.

Kane Rice Mount and Mbappe. That's quite a summer splurge
Keep Mbappe well away from our club, the muppet will spit on the badge at the first opportunity.

I’m open to Kane although I still doubt it’ll happen, Rice and Mount I’m not convinced but will ultimately support ETH if it is ETH that is sanctioning these transfers.

Striker is the top priority. The extra 30 goals that Kane got last season would instantly put us as title rivals and would’ve seen us finishing second as a minimum.

Apart from Mount I don't think any of them are likely to come are they, realistically speaking?

None of them will come. Kane would be too expensive because Levy wouldn't sell to a rival for anything but an insane price and we don't have a crazy budget this season by all accounts. Rice again would be far too much as isn't somewhere we are desperate to strengthen vs other positions. Mbappe is a non starter. He would cost silly silly money and even more ridiculous wages. Talking £1m/week. Hes currently on ~£900k/week plus bonuses.

Looks like Mendy is joining the others in SA now as well. That's a strong link between SA and Chelsea.

Yeah. There are rumours Koulibali is off to SA as well for a similar amount/more than Chelsea paid for him. Utterly ridiculous. No one is going to care any more about the SA league because they have a bunch of over the hill star players.

Nope. Mount will come as long as Chelsea can accept a reasonable fee but none of the others. The crap with the club sale is going to make a mess of our window I imagine.

Did anyone care about it before?

Not even a little and they still don't. The only time anyone even thinks about Ronaldo these days is when he is playing in internationals or something out of the ordinary happens. No one cares. I'm not even sure what their plan is for this. I think it was China that did this a few years ago and hows that worked out for them?

Sounds like we’re close to signing Verbruggen as our keeper.

We’ve been getting stuff done this window! Just a RB now and we’re pretty much cooking I reckon. Although still rumoured for another couple midfielders/attackers I believe.
