because the oil states are buying up sports clubs, international tournaments etc etc in an attempt to sports wash their image via gullible fools who will cheer and clap as soon as they throw a bit of cash around - good to see it working thoughI'm sorry but the Saudis really aren't quite the boogeymen that some of you are making out. No they aren't nice but they are no worse than most world powers. The US continues to pull the strings around the world and engage in awful conduct both at home and abroad. Less said about Russia the better. China is running concentration camps amongst other things.
I really don't know why people are so hung up on these oil states being the big bad at the moment. Yes they are crappy but so are most countries. These gulf states just don't care about hiding it quite as much as us "civilised" westerners.

The smokescreen was purchasing Newcastle. They're clearly secret owners of Liverpool and Chelsea and will fund them through the purchase of our deadwood. This is all a smoke screen. They be coming in with offers for Maxi for 100million. Miggy is worth at lest 50m after the season he had. They rest of the deadwood can go for 10million each.
They just need to spread the cash around to stop it looking obvious.
Someone needs to tell them they are doing the whole multi club/ feeder club wrong.Like Henderson, letting Fabinho go for a big fee and replacing him with somebody younger would be a logical move for us. It'll be far easier for Fabinho to justify moving there too.

I'd rather not let Fabinho go this season. He's still one of the best DMs around and it will be tough to find anyone to come in and hit the ground running to replace him, unless we were to get Rice or Caicedo. And even if we do get a replacement, losing all of Milner, Hendo and Fab in one summer would put us in a tough position. Our first choice midfield (Macallister, Szob, new DM) would all be new players.Like Henderson, letting Fabinho go for a big fee and replacing him with somebody younger would be a logical move for us. I'd keep him around for one more year, and the next phase of our transition is replacing him in 24.
I agree and the challenge for the club is to find the balance of making the correct long term financial decisions in relation to transfers and the short term needs of the side.I'd rather not let Fabinho go this season. He improved dramatically, as did everyone, once we reshuffled the formation, and having him at the base of the midfield box is a benefit to us imo.I agree and the challenge for the club is to find the balance of making the correct long term financial decisions in relation to transfers and the short term needs of the side.
Before last season Fabinho was one of the best DM's about but his drop off last season was shocking. Was it a one off, did having a baby really effect him (his mrs seems like hard work tbf) or is it a more permanent issue with him? Fab (and Hendo) is going to need to be replaced sooner or later but when is the right time? I agree that in an ideal world you bring somebody in now and bed them in before moving him on but is the £40m on the table for him in 12-18 months and how does that effect what we can do next summer?
My comment was purely looking at him in isolation. In an ideal world you get the best years out of a player and then sell them for a big fee just before their value plummets. As you say there are other issues to take into consideration. One way or another I wouldn't be shocked if one of Hendo, Thiago or Fab leave this summer though.
I see Liverpool twitter 'itks' are getting their knickers all moist at the thought of us going for tchouameni/caicedo if hendo and fab were to be sold
I'm not sure it does too badly. He's in decline, and it's a role which Foden and Alvarez are well placed to step into. It's probably the right time to sell him tbh.Hope he goes that weakens city they would be mad to let him go
