I’m not convinced on your comments re: the guardian, it seems to align with all the other critical reviews. It does sound like a fun Easter egg hunt, but not much more for those that aren’t fans of the franchise. I’m waiting to see it once it’s on streaming. In all honesty I’ve been totally put off by Rise of Gru as I think this is by the same studios, Illumination (which also did the Secret Life of Pets and Sing - all average at best).

People see what they want to see!

I thought it was decent family movie with plenty of nostalgia value for us oldies. Jack black was amazing as expected it was a perfect role for him.

It would make sense to hold fire, and 8th May is a bit soon anyway as that would have meant only 1 month on the big screen. In my opinion, it should be 3 months before it goes digital and 6 months before it goes to home video.

Which digital platform will Mario be going on anyway? It can't possibly be Disney+ because it's doing far too well compared to Disney of late

It is fairly soon but a lot of outlets are charging £20 for newer mainstream movies so they can probably make a fair amount of coin from that. Would agree it makes more sense to delay it.
