Superdry - how warm are their coats??

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone, I've been checking them all out. Not keen on that Berghaus one, I've got to say! Can imagine it's practical, though.

Mad snobbery.

What size would you normally be in jackets?

Superdry are REALLY small in my experience. Its like me putting a girls jacket on, I literally cant move in any of their medium-large jackets. Its gotta be like XXL or something to fit me.

There's no point in beating about the bush, you might as well go naked and save money than wear Superdry, Berghaus, North Face, Jack Wolfskin etc.. We could be in for the harshest winter since records began. You need:[/url]

No coat recommendation thread is complete without Gore-Tex

they're crap imo, fall to pieces within months.

They certainly do not. I managed to get a coat for free from their online store some 3 years or so ago as they cocked up delivery and offered to refund me and I could keep it. I stopped wearing it a year later though and passed it on to a sibling, it's still in excellent condition.

Their heavy coats/jackets are warm and cozy and if you buy from a factory store they're cheaper still. that jacket in Op is around £69 here.

Only problem you might find is that they're worn by everyone, most especially the folks who tend to plaster themselves with Lacoste and Fred Perry and a lot of the styles are rather out there :/

For windproofing check out North Face/Musto and other outlets like them that specialise in wind cutting outerwear. They will usually cost more than the £89 of that SuperDry but they're much lighter but at the same time much better.

I have one and I definitely wouldn't wear it out in this weather now, it's far too cold to be wearing a Superdry jacket. I'm not quite sure why Superdry jackets have the word 'dry' in, because I find they let in anything more than a drizzle.

The Superdry name is the result of a brainstorming session in a Tokyo bar after the two men collected “tons of packaging for food and from shops,” Mr. Holder said. “We looked at it and everything was ‘super’ this and ‘super’ that. That inspired us.”

Back in Britain, Mr. Holder gave his designs a Japanese touch by adding the words “super dry” in Japanese letters above the English name to create the fashion label’s logo.

Just like that!

Serious amount of idiots in this thread....bunch of internet virgins wearing mountaineering clothing walking the UK like it's Antarctica.

Proper response OP... Coat is probably good. Generally the only problem I have found with superdry is that they are mega undersized. XL is like a medium. Other that that decent quality.

They vary vastly from coat to coat..

I've got one very similar to this (older model). http://www.superdry.com/products?pr...kzEeXX9vTpeuCU_ka0CE4DaGqvS3cWTGZEaAltN8P8HAQ

It's great at keeping the wind out, very tough material, still looks fairly unworn after 4 years.

Then you get other ones which you'd freeze wearing in mild weather :p

Try a few on, in multiple sizes. Due to their tight fit nature, it's worth making sure you get the right size. Wouldn't buy one online personally.

Just pay a bit more and get a decent insulated jacket.

I bought an insulated, waterproof Berghaus and it does a splendid job. £110 squid I think it was.

Superdry is for Gayers.

For truth. Many of my gay mates imply that superdry is the choice of the gay man. Deadly serious.

As far as weather proof they're relatively crap. Fashion wise they're worse (IMO ofc).

Another options if its just the cold your worried about is something like the M65 surplus jackets (the ones that actually have the thermal inlay/quilted lining not all do) very few jackets will keep you warmer outside of the top end technical stuff but they aren't always the best in really wet weather.

M65's are pretty warm as I have one I use on winter rough shooting days.
My M65 jacket with the liner is certainly nice and warm but I agree with Rroff, it's not the most waterproof thing around.

Funny thread 5 Stars.

if you are cold id get a real coat. If you wanna look like everyone else get "super dry" cos it keeps you "super warm"

Get Canada Goose.

Pretty much a must in Chicago...

Uk, wouldnt be so sure.

I was going to get a Canada Goose because their reputaion for being so warm, the only problem is that they arent waterproof as they are meant for really cold places where its too cold to rain.

I ended up getting a Jack Wolfskin Anchorage

Have you ever thought that people may be outdoors for long periods of times?

As for being a virgin on the internet, nice spec sig!

I'm normally medium or large. I'm going to the shop so I'll just try some on to make sure they're alright.

Thanks mrk, I trust your opinion.

I'll ask them how waterproof the jacket actually is. I'd be very surprised if it wasn't, and I''m going to hold onto the receipt just in case because that'd be a serious design flaw if it does just let water in!!

To whoever mentioned fred perry etc...that is definitely not me!

You could double the embarassed glow by buying a SuperDry parka. Then you'll either be wearing the same brand or the same style as 99% of the people on the high street.
