Superdry - how warm are their coats??

I have a superdry duffel coat, it's waterproof, but has a sort of "wool" on the outside, but breathable material on the lining so does keep the wind out. It's not that thick though, and quite tight fitting - it's supposed to be quite fashionable rather than practical.
However, I love it, but can't really wear a thick jumper under it, but I prefer wearing layers anyway.

The one you linked too looks warm, but you'll have to see how thick it is and how the layers are set up. If it can keep the wind and water out that's the main bit about keeping warm. Then again we don't live in a VERY cold country, so a few thin layers will probably keep you nice and warm in a coat like that. :)

so long as you don't expect the coat to be warm, waterproof or windproof its as fine a way of spending money as any other coat. If you want something that will keep you warm and dry get yourself down to a decathlon store, no need to spend the earth on northface or whatever other hyped up brand. A half decent ski coat can be had for £50 and will keep you warmer and drier than you will ever need in the uk

Cannot imagine wearing that Decathlon jacket down the pub tbh. I do think it's hard getting something that looks good and also waterproof etc. so this Superdry one seems like a reasonable combination of stylish and practical.

If you want more practical you could look at something like this?

I had a friend who worked at Superdry so I got it cheap. No way would I pay the proper price for it

I think I got about 9 coats, 5 jackets, 20 odd hoddies and a lod of shirts an stuff.

Was paying about £30 a coat which is what I'd pay in Primark, ASDA, TK Max

They look good, hoddies are warm, the shirt the misses love and the coat is okay, it's not something i would want to be stuck out and an about with if it got uber cold

I have this Superdry jacket

Warmest coat I've every had. 3 years old and nothing has fallen off or broken.

Ive got a Windcheater which has a red fleecy lining.

Got it out of a sale from Bank (or somewhere) a few years ago. It kept me well warm when we went to Poland in January that year...it was -9 at night :o Still looks in very good nick and they have really deep collars on them so you don't need a scarf

However, 2 things bug me about them:
1) The amount of zips on the things! FAR TO MANY!!!
2) The sizing. It just about fit me 3 years ago, but not a chance now

I wouldn't bother getting one which isn't lined.

wont comment on superdry.

i did recently pick up a reduced regatta jacket though and i cant wear it with a jumper as i get too hot. best coat ive had for a while out of several brands.

I've got one similar to the one linked in the OP but without the furry lining.
It's probably about the most generic black jacket you can purchase so I don't know why people get so hysterical. Mine is black with black branding so it's even more subtle.
It's fairly windproof, not waterproof, and has a lot of zips which are a bit fiddly. Looks smart enough for day to day wear, down the pub wear, whatever really.

It's warm enough not to be cold. Would I wear it to climb a mountain? No, because it isn't an outdoor adventure jacket :p so comparing it to North Face and the likes is a bit daft.
If I want to be warm and a bit more stylish I have a Lakeland nubuck/suede jacket.
If I just want to be warm and dry I have a snowboarding jacket which is storm proof, blizzard proof, polar bear proof etc - but I wouldn't really wear it to the pub or the shops. Unless I was going to a pub in Antarctica.

I just went to the shop to have a look at them. That one I was after isn't actually in shops yet, only online it seems.

I had a look at some others though. I'm a large, and comfortably so, which is good! I'm not keen on the crinkly material on the outside, although I did see a similar one which had a soft kind of outside, which was alright. The lining seemed a bit thin in the one I tried on, but it was a kind of lesser version of the one in the OP. The number of zips is absolutely mental. There's 3 and they go up and down. Nuts!!

New plan is to just go shopping on Sunday and see what I find.

If by crinkly you mean the quilted look one? There is also a plain one, I find the stiff collar section that comes up to your cheeks extremely irritating. I just don't think they are worth the money. It's like sticking a £70 price tag on a george by asda jacket, adding a couple of zips and the superdry name.

No no! I wouldn't be caught dead in a quilted one!! It's the standard fabric they seem to use on their coats, and it crinkles when you touch it. It's some sort of windproof stuff.

From what I saw earlier, they are better quality than something you'd get from Asda. I was perfectly happy with the quality, just not sure how warm it would be in the end without seeing the actual one that I want.

Used to like the brand before every man and his fat dad found them, now I avoid where possible. Get the coat, look like every second person on the street. The empire will crumble soon enough now plenty of 40+ are wearing the stuff.

funny thing is it doesn't matter what little label is on a piece of clothing. everybody in town looks the same anyway.
