Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Seems my email might of given them a little kick up for the late dispatch as DPD delivered it today even though Saturday delivery usually costs abit more . Happy as i now do not have to worry as i completely ran out of protein yesterday so can have a workout tomorrow. Got a nice 10% off next order (unfortunately its tied to my account otherwise i would have handed it out someone else) runs out Feb 29th...to stockpile or not!

I find their protein tends to be a lot thinner then others though. Vanilla dosent taste half bad but tbh as i said before i care little for the taste ill always guzzle it down! Yet to try their creatine wonder what it will taste like!

Which my protein bundle should I get?!

Im sure someone more knowledgeable will be along to give their help however i guess the first question is what you wish to achieve as this categorise what you really 'need' - i put that in italics to reflect what has been discussed on the first few pages of the thread. Similarly when this and your goals are set out (sorry if i missed this in one of the other threads) then people can help with diets and stuff which is much more important

One thing to note that MP can be abit over priced for example their instant oats, i have yet to try them as i make my own - blender + value oats which works out a hell of a lot cheaper ( think its something like £4.10 saving...all adds up!). Its quite easy to get lured in and impulse spend on stuff so just take a look at what is really being offered. I'm pretty sure people said there are cheaper places to buy the Omega oils too so take a look around and do a little research!

The oats definately seem to be quite a high price considering you can just blend your own from the supermarket. Less than a £1 per kilo instead of £6 or however much they are.

In terms of the bundles you can still get the New Year Bundle for just over £40 with two discount codes that are knocking about. It's on offer until 29/12/2011. Think the codes are MHDEAL and SAVE. Although don't quote me on that, they are on page 111 of this thread though if you want to double check.

google "Bodybuilding Tip: Why Are Dudes In Prison So Yoked ?!??"

these 2 guys swear a lot in their videos so i cannot link to them, but anyway, these guys give out a lot of solid real info.

basically you shouldn't be taking any supplements apart from creatine and protein tbh.

i have spent thousands on supplements, i have a huge batch of them and tbh i think they are right.

from now on im only going to take

fish oils (cheap and beneficial for joints, i have a few injuries)
protein (only 1 shake a day, i reckon the human body cannot use more than 30-50g of protein a day unless your also injecting "special supplements")
creatine
multi vit (cheap enough to worry whether it works or not)
pre workout (im lazy and i find this helps a lot)

they also have a good video on genetics and supplements as well, but a lot of their stuff is regurgitated and repetitive but they do have a few quality videos.

i bet a lot of you would see zero difference in muscle growth if you stopped taking shakes tbh.

Hahaha, I really like their approach to it all. It's like a "Stop being stupid, back to basics" sort of talk.

I'm going to watch a few more of their videos, cheers man.

Right....You do realise why people take shakes though? To increase calorie intake and macros.

You can do the same thing with food, I do mine with shakes purely for money reasons.

And yes it is cheaper for me to do this

While I agree with you on the bit about having the same results without whey and supplements in general, I really don't agree with you on the body not being able to use 30-50g of protein a day

Crazy talk

If that were the case, any average joe could make Freefaller like gains just by eating your typical diet

Absolute rubbish.

no they couldnt, Freefaller has been training for like 10 years.

if they had really good monster genetics they could make those gains in 2 or 3 years.

if they had good genetics then they could do it in maybe 5 years.

average genetics then your talking 10 years like freefaller.

crap genetics then no matter what you do even if you trained for 20 years you could never look like him.

there was a study made by leading scientists in india, and they said that they found that the average body could only effectively use 30g of protein per day.

now i know what your going to say indian scientists, but they are regarded as some of the best in the world, india leads in world class eye surgery as well has lots of other types.

you clearly missed the whole point of the video, they are saying genetics matters a lot. take a genetic monster they could make freefaller look small and it doesnt matter what they eat, so long as they train hard.

genetics matters more than any supplement, the amount of protein you eat and the amount you train.

this is the reason why guys take steroids because its improving their testosterone, etc which is a genetic thing if you have high test or low test naturally. basically by taking steroids your changing from your bodies normal genetic profile.

It's rubbish :)

Indian scientists maybe the best in the world, but when it comes to nutrition they should clearly leave it to the rest of the world

lolgenetics, plsgo

That's about all the effort I'm willing to give in this argument, because that's all it deserves.

i know a guy who has been going to the gym everyday or the past 8 years and he doesnt even look like he lifts, he used to eat 3 boxes (restaurant size boxes) of chicken a week and drink a pint of water every half hour, etc.

yet i look a lot bigger than him and i train very inconsistently and my diet is bad.

I love the fact its weighted on the Average person and their ingestion of protein. Since when was working out 5 times a week deemed average? how can the comparisons to this study be held with any weight?

here is a question for all the "experts" here, how many grams of protein do you reckon the average prison bodybuilder digests in a day?

it doesnt matter if you eat 500g or 50g in a day, genetics and training matters a lot more.
