Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Pre-workout I take a shake with: 2 whey scoops, nesquik, creatine, instant coffee. Usually in milk, but water if dieting.

Instant coffee in shake, my mind = blown. Any recommendations for particular brands which will mix well with the whey, I'm not particularly fond of the taste of coffee.

Thinking of getting some mhp dark matter for pwo, and maybe wome gaspari superpump for pre. 5h97/-5#?

Been thinking of getting sone vasotropib purely for the pump, aswell

Edit:- that random collection of numbers was supposed to be "thoughts", stupid phone...

I dunno, I just use nescafe regular stuff. Seems to mix ok. I don't mind the taste much, but I'm a big coffee drinker. There's a canteen next to my gym and I regularly bring hot cups of coffee into the gym. :D

Non-coffee drinkers that have tried my shakes do not like them.

I'm presuming the oats would give some kind of energy due to carbs no?

I usually just have a banana :p But i'm not allowed to anymore :(

Oats are a slow release carb so not really suitable for Post work out

Stick to dextrose as a cheap ingredient or if you can afford it, an already made PWO shake. CNP Pro Recover is the daddy of those imo

Oats are medium release carbs so indeed not suited post workout, at least not on their own.

As for that CNP stuff, I think is ridiculously expensive for what's essentially whey, dextrose and maltodextrin. You can make that on your own for a fraction of the price and add some glutamine as well while you're there.

O_O

How is it ridiculously expensive?

£50 for 3 months worth, well more than that if you only use it 3/4 times a week. Yet £26 for Recovery XS which lasts a month, so in 3 months you've spent £78?

Remember 5kg of Whey alone would be about £40-45

It's actually pretty cheap

Running out of my Recovery XS too, so looking at alternatives. Would I be better with the pre-made stuff (like Recovery XS or CNP Pro) or mix my own.

What are the 'main' ingedients in a PWO to help with the absorbtion of whey?

Are you kidding Deception? :p This has literally been flogged to death over the last 25 posts, if you can't find the golden information on this page alone, I fear you never will :D

PWO, Whey and Dextrose.

Pre-Workout, whatever works, a banana and a coffee worked for me, or just the banana...But changing that soon.

Any major difference you can see for using isolate over impact? Just curious :)

I did it purely for digestive reasons. I gave up dairy and the isolate has less lactose in it.

It does have a higher protein content and less carbs/fat than the concentrate too but i suppose it depends how carried away you get with the small details as to whether that's important to you.

I saw the dextrose and/or maltodextrin posts :p. I was just wondering was there anything else. They aren't mentioned in Recovery XS list of ingredients. So, was basically looking for the key ingredients as apposed to the list of stuff they dump in it (if I was to mix my own). :D

Speaking of lsit of ingredients.. FF, how is the mix you made up, coming along.
