I completely agree with you about the "no pain no gain part" but if you don't like unflavored whey then don't drink it, there's nothing wrong with that. I'm a big believer in the big lifts and I agree with your "no-nonsense" attitude when it comes to lifting.

For little things like creatine/glutamine I just scoop it down my mouth and chug a bit of water - I'm not fussed. I can do that with BCAA's as well and they taste absolutely rank. But after a while you get bored of chugging down 6-700ml 2-3 times a day of a liquid that you don't like.
If I'm going to stick to my bloody diet and not eat **** all day long like everybody else does then I want my protein shake to taste amazing as that is the treat that keeps my mental sanity.

No matter how hardcore you are it eventually gets to you after a while. For that reason I think you're better off buying a decent tasting shake.
 
anyone got suggestions for the best value omega 3 (330mg epa 220mg dha per cap) and multivitamins?
What you need to ask yourself is can you be sure any fish oils you buy aren't rancid? Answer is no and the reason I no longer take them myself, I eat mackerel instead. Though I've been trying to find some good value Krill Oil.

As for multi-vit's the best value I've seen are the Now Foods ADAM's multi, preferably the liquid capsules. I wouldn't even take 99% of multi's even if they were free, they have some very questionable ingredients.
 
How do you know if these multivitamins are actually doing something? I have cut down on mine and I tell no difference. The only difference I know is the colour of your urine. Stop taking them and there goes the glow in the dark.

I am using Alpha Men btw. Maybe my diet is good enough to notice anything.

well for me my diet is pretty much the same as it has always been. I have been off the multi vitamins for about 6 weeks now, and after a couple of weeks i started to feel just a little more run down, if that makes sense?

No massive difference but i did notice a change. It might have nothing to do with the multivits, but then again it might.
 
Alpha Men is poor. For a start the magnesium and zinc are both in oxide from, so you'll be absorbing the grand total of about 0.01% of those.

Arguably the most beneficial vitamin to supplement is Vitamin D. The Vit D in Alpha Men is D2 which is pretty much useless so won't be getting any of that either.

So that's 3 of the most important nutrients for a gym goer missing and that's for starters. Doesn't look good does it when you see how little thought has gone into it's production?

i dont agree, you can flavour regular bulk whey with fruits and powdered flavourings. Buying into the branded why's just because of an aversion to the flavour of bulk whey is utter madness. You respond as if im saying everything has to taste like poop otherwise you are a wimp. On the contrary im a big fan of finding ways to improve variety and maintain interest.

The way i read the initial question was regarding FUNCTION, beginners have a misplaced belief that using one whey supp versus another will have a tangible, appreciable difference. They believe that the various propreitary blendings and amino complexes could be the difference between a male model body and mr average.

This is simply not the case, and whining on a forum about the flavour of whey protein wont make their biceps any bigger. When i hear people moaning about the flavour of whey it tells me something about them, about their nature, and im very direct about how i feel about these people and about not wasting my time.

I dont care what whey anyone has, prefers or can stomach. I only care that they knuckle down and get on with the business of training without finding something new to moan about each and every day to a bunch of other average joes who are all sympathy and smiles thats the BS my friend.

MyProtein have some swish empty tubs in stock in 3 sizes. Apparently your typical 1kg of whey/oats/creatine requires one middle sized tub (4l) and if you have 5kg of whey then you're looking at two 6l (largest size) and one 4l tub. They're cheap as chips as well.
 
What was that site with the super strong omega 3 tabs (I think it was the one where you only needed to take 1 a day)? I need to order some more :)
