Did you take it on an empty stomach? With how much water? Do you consume anything else before or during your workout?
Yes I took it on an empty stomach, I used about 160ml of water, not much water, but the dosage says that. Think I've got one of those bodies where caffeine doesn't affect me :(. Might have to try another pre workout shake!
 
I always find people who drink caffeine regularly, be it from coke or coffee, will not notice a thing from pre workouts the majority of the time
 
Yeah, to basically echo what Steedie has said, I find pre-work out works better on a bulk for this reason. When you're bulking, energy isn't so much of an issue, so a Pre- will get you buzzing.

When you're shifting in the early stages of bulk to cut, and your energy is okay (thus you're not drinking much coffee), your Pre- will still get you going.

When you're half way or towards the end of a cut, and you've been drinking 10 cups of coffee just to drag your sorry ass through the day, Pre-'s stop having much of an effect :p

Luckily I only have the odd coffee before a workout. I drink tea quite religiously mind

I have a hell of a lot of caffeine, i cant function without it:p then when i have Jack3d, it pushes me into some sort of Incredible Hulk zone.. heh
It definitely effects me & i love it
 
Thing is there's more to Jack3d than just caffiene, otherwise Black Powder and things like Pulse would all be the same.

I found even though Black Powder is a more expensive and terrible version of Jack3d, it's okay for cardio days.

Although I'd still pick jack3d over the rest. I know in the states they have some crazy pre-training supplements, some apparently far better than little ole Jack3d, but I've not tried them.

The main appeal with Jack3d is also that the added fillers have been removed. I'm sure if they cut out the Maltodextrin in Black Powder it would have a much smaller container as well.

Jack3d, 1 -2 scoops ( 5-10grams I think) and I get all tingly and feel like I can swing a loaded olympic bar like a baseball bat.

Black Powder 1 scoop ( 20grams ) Meh..no real "buzz" just a little boost in energy.

Pulse 6 scoops ( 17-20g ) Was alright, mostly meh.

I also just noticed that MyProteins new Pulse V4 is "new and improved" Aka more caffiene, some little extras and more caffiene.
 
I'm pretty sure the thing that makes you all tingly in Jack3D is the caffeine :) I don't think the other stuff has much affect on your energy/concentration.

It's the Beta Alanine that gives you the tingle, and the big buzz comes from the 1,3-Dimethylamylamine while the caffeine will give a much less pronounced feeling of not getting tired rather than a massive energy boost.
 
I could not feel Flop3d either.

Same for a friend of mine, but he really likes Black Powder and Pulse, although he drinks like a full shake of them, 4-5 scoops a day. :eek:

Jack3d does wonders for me, although I need to use it in weekly cycles or else I get use to it.

FWIW, I loved Jack3D. Couldn't recommend it enough - however I don't take it as frankly, I don't feel I need it =)
 
Same as, never taken a pre-workout shake, not felt the need. And quite frankly, I'd rather not have to recommend on some drink to give me a buzz before my workout and then become dependent on it.

Thats what I want to feel! So far I've been taking 2 scoops of Jack3d and felt nothing :(. Trying 3 scoops before my back session today, on an empty stomach and if thats nothing, im guessing I will have to give up.

I honestly don't think many legal substances will make you feel like Incredible Hulk tbh.

If you have to take 3 scoops already then I guess you'll be using half the tub in no time!
 
I'm also starting to wonder if there is a real need for a pre-workout supplement. Unless you take it every session is it really going to make a difference in the long-term? Or is it just a placebo?
 
Really it's best used sparingly, otherwise your body gets accustomed to the effects of it anyway. However, I'd say it's definitely got a place on those days where sometimes you just don't feel up to it - a couple of scoops can definitely send you in the right direction.

As part of a daily pre-workout supp, then no, I don't think it's needed. If you feel it is, you've got issues elsewhere - poor diet or not enough sleep.
 
The only time I can think of taking one is as Monkee says, if you are generally knackered.

Or, you have some crazy PB's to set, and just want an extra kick up the arse
