It's not. You don't really need to supplement your diet if you've got the ability to get it all from food. Most people can't, so choose to supplement their diets to help boost their diets and give them a little extra in terms of different macros.

I do agree. But as you say, its just easier after a workout to down a quick shake of protein and dextrose or whatever, rather than cook up something immediately :)

So in answer to glacus. Its not vital to have a post workout drink, but if you cant get the food in you after a workout, a shake is easier normmaly. Then some would argue at 'our' level that forcing a shake down your throat post workout isn't needed ;)

Read the op, but still a bit confused by all these.
I've dabbled in weights for years, but determined to actually do it properly this time. I found a work out that I think will suit me. But how important is a post work out Shake? Out of all the guides I've read, nearly all off them suggest taking them? And if it is beneficial any suggestions on which ones?
They aren't necessary, but it is a lot easier to hit the required micronutrient numbers with them.

Ive been using USN Musclefuel Anabolic for the last couple of weeks to try and gain some mass. I feel fat from it though lol :)

My strength improved on it though in just 2 weeks. Ill probably do it for another 4 weeks or so. I like the taste and it makes a great meal replacement.

BCAAS and Creatine etc. Without the hassle of mixing my own.

Pricey at £41 for 4kg though (26 servings.)

Can I just be a little pedantic... your strength has not improve whilst "on it". All that's happened is that you're training and getting stronger, and you're getting extra macros/nutrition in your diet helping you recover or potentially and more likely, making up for a poor diet, or a diet lacking in everything you need.

Have you got data sheets, and ratios of amino acid and AA profiles? Where are you purchasing your whey from and what mixes are you making? Interested in all the info.

I only buy supps with all those criteria available to me. :) Feel free to email me in trust. Or are you just a reseller?

Yeah you're right that its not some magic formula and its just giving me what Im missing. But I think the Creatine and BCAAs coming in constant have had a good effect on me. Im always pretty useless when it comes to keeping ontop of my powdered creatine etc.

I have only tried the one tub for the last two weeks. Its pretty much finished now but I was tempted to try again for another 4 weeks or so.

It comes in handy having big shakes like them because where I live/work (RAF base) I dont have any food prepping facilities. So outside of mealtimes I cant really rustle up a decent meal.

I'm presuming you are based there all week etc? Why will they not let you rustle food up?

Might be worth looking into seeing if you can prep something that'll last for a fair while? No idea what, like flapjacks or something...That would annoy me no end!

Yeah I live on base 5-7 days a week. We have no cooking facilities in our communal kitchen. They dont trust us incase we burn the place down. A microwave or george foreman could maybe be sneaked in.

But then I would need a fridge and I aint buying one for my time here lol.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is all provided in the messing facility. They have pretty good food there sometimes. But other times its a bit unhealthy.
 
Just eat what you can then. And by that, I mean eat the healthiest thing you can, and naturally mix it up every so often I guess? So if you have the option, I'd probably have a jacket over chips for instance.
 
Guys! Check out facebook theres this link thing it says i can have abs using only 1 weird old tip!! If its weird and old it must work! Probably give me a bigger willy too!
