Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I'm new here so apologies for not reading through 199 pages!

I'm currently using;

MyProtein Total (80%) 2x25g daily
Jack3d - Apple (1 scoop seems to do the trick - itchy head!)
Creatine Mono-hydrate (5g-10g)

All these seem to work well however I am struggling with the recovery. Any suggestions which will fit in well?

Maybe but the serving sizes seem to differ quite a lot, since the average BCAA serving seems to be 200 times bigger. :p

Trust me it makes no difference.

This stuff is like battery acid, mixed with hot garlic sauce.

It warms up as it hits your mouth, horrid stuff.

Great for pct mind :D

Still yet to find a beverage to mask the stuff, coffee seems to work best so far.

Ok...

What are you taking those for?

What are you training for?

Recovery in what sense? Muscle soreness, general tiredness..?

If it's muscle soreness you could start taking some intra supplements like BCAAs. These helped me with muscle fatigue after a tough w/o.

A week into creatine again (last time I stopped due to getting some minor cramps) - it seems increasing my water consumption seems to have stopped it totally.

It's a shame you've got me on ignore so you won't see this but.. YA THINK!?! Who'd a thunk that taking creatine - a substance that increases the your muscles demands for water would need .. more water? :p

ELMARKO you really should read up on supplements before you shovel them into your body. It's a well known fact you need to drink more water whilst taking creatine.

Doesn't it say on the back of the Jack3d not to take with other Creatine products... Just a thought

Won some mass gainer as part of my comp and some preworkout stuff.
The preworkout stuff won't work i'm sure due to the silly amount of caffiene I consume each day lol.

The mass gainer is 6kg of USN Hyperbolic Mass, choccy flavour.
Serving size: 300g of powder and 800ml full fat milk - 1610kcal per serving. Boom!

I already drank plenty of water already & had increased it (3l+ a day pure before, along with the water in the food/other drinks during the day) - just upping it further to 4l of pure seems to have helped.

Don't assume that I didn't read up on it or increased it previously (just didn't by enough for me).

What's the best value 'branded' whey? I fancy a change from MyProtein/BulkPowders etc. and was gonna splash out on MyoFusion or ON Gold? Any recommendations/deals?

You're right, but not specifically with creatine, just with any other stimulant what-so-ever. In all fairness, I haven't used it for some time as I tend to forget my water bottle (use the on site fountain and works water machines throughout the day). I may scrap it overall because the creatine mh helps alleviate the cramping I get in my legs and allows for better strength at the end of the sets.

Currently my aim is to increase in size and strength. I am working on cardio on off training days and do a few K's on the bike before weight training.

I know I need to get my supplements in order and having just got the bug for WT again, now would be a good time to get them in order.

There has been some mention of BCAA aiding the recovery... is this a general supplement or can it be obtained from certain food groups?
