Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I'm saving for a house and a wedding - so need to shop smart - and well, as I've always said, it's there to supplement, and I'm going to need to supplement my diet. I'll be hitting just shy of 3k cals - and that's going to cost me enough as it is, and there's 2 of us to feed. I'm justifying it... yup - but that's me being honest with you. :)

Oh I'm not bashing :) And fair game matey, needs must!

That's a lottttt of calories no? How many was you on when you got to your biggest last time?

Best of luck for the house saving and wedding though.

FF, that post workout shake sounds pretty immense, share the details? :p

I'm all about the 5% fat beef mince these days, 500g for £4.25p.

As it's stated! Just mix it all up! Ratios belong to your bodyweight though - so you have to workout how much HMB/Leucine/Dextrose etc... you need. :) For the proteins I just do 1/3rd of each. :) Just buy it in bulk and mix 'em all up! Lasts me a good 6 months. :) For around £100 can't complain!

I want detials of this PWO shake :)

I stick to whey, dextrose and flax oil just now. Tastes sweets as hell, but being off it for the past 10-12 weeks I have noticed a massive difference.

Can't wait to get back on a decent diet.

It's not very scientific - the theory is sustained release, and having carbs proteins and decent amino acids available. I guess a 40/30/20 ratio of proteins/carbs/AA - leaves 10 for sweetners/fats/other ingredients. :)

I am a very hard gainer, and that not an excuse for not eating enough. I've done 5k diets and most protein shakes, eaten till I feel sick etc, but generally nothing had hreat results till now.

I have drank 3 of these a day whilst eating heavily, it doesn't sit heavy to stop you from eating more too.
I have put on 5kg in 3 weeks. That for me is crazy.

UE you get so much stick sometimes but I'd just like to weigh in and say most of what you post makes me LOL genuinely.

Nice to have some brutal honesty now and then and definitely what is needed in many cases however hard some people take it.

not even 10% of that will be muscle.
Loading yourself with tons of sugar every day isn't the best way to gain weight. If you want to do it anyway at least grab something tastier.:D

Hmm bit of a generalisation. I go to the gym 4 times a week so it could well be that I have gained quickly.
It also has a very competitive mixture, with no simple sugars or fat.

Premium protein blend including partially pre-digested whey peptides, whey protein concentrates, and milk protein concentrate.
No simple sugars, fructose, or sucrose
Creatine Monodydrate to fuel muscles after intense training*
L-Glutamine to help preserve muscle tissue*
97% fat free
Amazing taste!

Cristian is right, most muscle you can expect to put on in a year is 3kg at a push. So essentially your piling on the fat, and 5kg is quite a lot in a short space of time. Why not build up muscle slowly? I started off a skinny guy and slowly added muscle while staying leaning over about 8 years.

Cause I'm lean not skinny and have been going to the gym for over a year and a half solid
3kg a year! You have to be kidding. I really don't want to argue, but in a year a 1lb a week of muscle is average, which is 23kg a year, based on training very hard of course. This year alone I would say I have put on about 12 or 13 myself.

I have no problem with putting on some fat, I really don't see it as an issue since I had virtually none before. Like I said people generalising.

I am aware that this isn't steroidal formula that makes muscles grow instantly, what I was suggesting/showing was that for people who struggle to gain weight, this stuff is good considering that it doesn't contain just sugar, and is 97% fat free.
The amino acid mixture must be going a long way into making some decent muscle alongside the fat.

That alright with you?

All I'm going to say is UE would struggle to put on 23kg of muscle in a year even with his cycling.
