Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Isn't the whole point of bulking to add muscle while gaining the least amount of fat possible? You only need a maximum of a 500cal any more and its pointless, you are going to gain the same muscle on that as you are a 2500cal surplus. Gaining muscle takes time and effort there is no 'quick fix'

Also you aren't going to gain any size of your wrists, maybe a very small amount on the face. Unless you are a pro power lifter or strongman who weighs 230lbs+ and are lean there is no point in trying to gain as much weight as possible. It's just unhealthy...

Literally none of that makes sense. Impressive.

How does none of it makes sense?
I'll try bullet pointing it for you.
- Was taking in enough protein via shakes was gaining muscle
- Was eating lots and lots of carbs as I wanted to gain fat, ate an excess of calories of an average man
- Didnt notice a gain in fat
- Bought a weight gainer the other day that has made me gain heavily and quickly.
- Posted it here
- Angered people for suggesting that I might have gained some muscle alongside my fat as I don't find that too hard.
- Got told I needed winecoolers for being poor. :D

You got flamed because no one wants to add 0.5lbs of muscle with 2-3lbs of fat a week by drinking that shake.

You fail to understand that its all about minimising fat. You are out of the ordinary wanting to gain it.

I thought that would be self explaintory for being a weight gainer mate, otherwise I would only be eating protein isolate. I didn't suggest that you or anyone else did. I did however suggest that for those who find themselve in a skinny situation that this might help.
If you pick on people for suggesting something that doesn't suit you that imo is very odd.

I don't fail to understand anything, actually, if anything you might fail to understand that there are people out there with extememly low BF's that need help.

100g of protein isn't enough. At your claimed 1g/lb that puts you at...100lbs bodyweight.

Why on earth would you want to gain fat? Just... what?! 2500kcals IS the intake of an average man.

Post your pictures.

With only the addition of a few scoops of mass gainer, which can't amount to that much in terms of macros (post up the nutritional info to prove me wrong), you'd have been better off adding more real food.

Well, no. It's fairly common knowledge that a) mass gainers are just very expensive calories, b) there are biological limits to how much you can gain. You claiming otherwise does not change these facts, and if you want to break new scientific ground I suggest you get some before and after measurements beyond the wishful thinking of your own experience.

Where was this muscle that you gained, on your arms per chance?

- Got told I needed winecoolers for being poor.
Unaware.

Whey isolate is also a waste of money unless you are lactose intolerant.

You ARE misunderstanding something. Going from skinny to normal does not involve adding fat, it involves adding lean mass along with a sensible proportion of fat. Looking skinny in the wrists is not about body fat.

Skinny wrists for life :p

I just read all of that in one go, I think I deserve a medal :p.

But seriously this was fun.

There has been a severe lack of evidence on your part ChroniC, combined that with figures that appear to have been plucked out of the air and with the simple fact that mass gainers are just high in calories makes the most logical conclusion that the weight you gained was mostly fat.

It seems to me that a lot of the time people don't understand how and where fat deposits. It is incredibly easy to gain 5lbs and that to be made up solely of water and fat.

With the fact that you were consuming a lot of carbs it also makes sense that you took on a lot of water so that will distort your measurements as well.

I enjoy this, can we do it more often please :D.

This:
including partially pre-digested whey peptides

was my favourite part :).

It was probably about 100-150 depending on the day and yes, I was gaining muscle, infact 1.5stone of it, sorry if that annoys you. Your problem.

I was 11 stone and 6ft3, why is it so hard for you to believe i wanted some fat??

Post your pictures.

I will, when Im not at work

You think I havent tried that before. Hmm jesus if only I'd know after year and years all I needed was a tiny bit more food. You must know me so well

Nope pretty much anywhere I worked out. Tbh it probably is mostly fat but it may not be, once again you dont know me. Why are you even arguing this.

Just read up

Not the point at all, were talking weight gainers, and why I thought it was a good one as I gained weight. Your crashing of the rails again and killing passengers

Right so everyone in the world is just bone and muscle are they.

So would people be happy if I post a picture of me a year ago at 11 and a bit stone and me now at 13 and a bit? I really don't get what your moaning about?
