Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Nope. Mine was done via Quidco :)

Either way, I probably prefer what I have received in all honesty than the storage bottle thing.

Just for some clarification, the smartshake is bleeding awesome! :p

Usually just use my whisk and do it by hand, tried this tonight and the shake was smooth as silk! Love it.

You have been training ages and regularly posting on here, yet you used a whisk on protein shakes? jesus christ.. If I didnt have a shake cup with a blender ball, Id never drink any shakes lol.

They cost like 3 quid or ya get em free.. how has it took so long for you to discover the most basic gym goers item? :O

I've never understood the need for a blender ball, whisk or anything special. My shaker with the mesh top works just fine, and actually works fine without it. I've never had a lumpy shake.

What does that have to do with the price of fish? :p

I use my hand whisk in the morning to do my whey for my oats/porridge, then used it PWO when I got home, then before bed with the casein, I see no issue and it took less than 10 seconds to whisk up.

As some people are aware on this forum, I'm pretty hard up, so buying extra things like shakers and stuff didn't appeal to me, now that I have it (for free mind, which is a bonus) I will be using it PWO and before bed.

And as Flutter has said ,the ball whiskers tend to be naff anyway, this thing however is pretty awesome, no ball, just shake the thing and neck it, then rinse afterwards. No removing clumps in the ball etc :p

Shakers with a blender ball?! Are you serious? They're the worst kind of shaker I've ever had, I'd rather just have to blend with a spoon than a ball shaker

Smartshaker is ok, apart from they leak badly (by that I mean any water can leak down into the compartments, either through condensation or dripping down from the top), I bought one at Bodypower 2 years ago, it leaked. Complained to the Smartshake company, got sent a replacement, that one leaked. Got given another one at bodypower this year, guess what.....it leaks

Well, the myprotein blurb does state they aren't to be used as liquid storage, ie, they will leak.

I'm only using it at home, so it's ideal for me. If I can make my shakes taste better with it, then im all ears.

We've been through this before, and the ballblenders are still spot on. It's just an antagonist to break up the lumps of protein powder that form. The exact job that a mesh at the top of the shaker also does, although as far as my logic can figure out, a ball inside the shaker is going to do a far better job.

Works on the same principle as cans of spray paint; a metal ball inside keeps it all broken up and smooth.

I'd also say some proteins definitely mix better than others; Recovery XS or Casein deffo take a bit more to mix rather than plain ol' whey.

Ummm...what?

Did you just go full Delvis again?

Let's say I put some recovery powder in one compartment, and my pre workout in the other. Start of the workout I put my pre workout in the shaker, and drink during my workout. By the end of the workout, my post workout was usually damp or had water in it

Are you suggesting I don't use it as it was intended because it was badly designed? lols

But they don't?

I've had both. I now have two ball shakers and no meshes. The mesh would just get clogged up with powder and be a bast to clean. The balls, effortless in every way.

I'm not even comparing the ball shakers anyway, I'm just noting I got my free shaker and I'm happy with it's performance :p

For once I didn't actually.

I am specifically talking about this product which I have received: http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/smartshake-lite
(ALtohugh mine says smartshakeliteV2 on the side of it.)

If you scroll down to the suggested use part, it states the following:

Please note: Our Blenders and Shakers are not designed to transport liquids, their intended use is to mix powders and liquids in to a smooth consistency immediately before consumption.

Anyway, the one you are talking about (http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/myprotein-smartshake) also has the same blurb. Which is what I was referring to :)

Which is odd, as the casein mixed up completely different to that last night, no clumps at all (mesh shaker)...Maybe my PWO whey+dextrose will be different mind :p

The ball shakers (lol) have always been perfect for me. I've acquired a few over the years. I just leave em in my cup all the time whether I'm just drinking water or anything. Them mesh ones are just annoying. They misalign half the time or just make the cup harder to close quickly.

I'm only using it to mix my shake, so it won't be an issue as I just unscrew the top to neck the shake rather than using the spout thing.

You most definitely are going full Delvis I'm afraid.

I'M NOT TRANSPORTING LIQUIDS

I'm simply putting liquids into the shaker as you're expected to do, or do you just drink the powder dry?

I'm saying that when powder is in there, if the screwtop lid isn't completely on or even when it is it can happen, or you accidentally spill some out of the drinking bit, then it drips down and into the compartments, because the lip means the seal isn't water tight.

So are you suggesting I don't put any liquid into it, or I remove the compartments?

I'm suggesting you follow the websites guidelines and use it to mix your shakes ;)

I'm pulling your leg mate. You've said it leaks, and I believe you :p I'm just telling you what the websites suggested use says.

Anyway, transport powder in compartment, remove compartment, fill the shake with water, put the powder in, shake while holding the spout lid, done. :p

BAM!
