Brief review of every flavour of Xtend (got the sampler pack):

Green Apple Explosion - this was the flavour I had a tub of when it was the old blend. A finer powder than the original, mixes better due to less clumpiness. Looks a weird green colour. Taste is smoother without the weird aftertaste old blend had. A mild, pleasant apple flavour which is much less artificial than the old one and is perfectly drinkable versus being merely bearable. Would be happy to use full time.

Grape Escape - purple colour with a hard to pin down grape flavour but a nice, refreshing taste which went down easily, would definitely buy. Very smooth and it's only the aftertaste that is quite grape-like, but on the whole it was good. This seems to be the most popular flavour online as well.

Orange Dream - orange colour, acceptable flavour although not particularly remarkable, kind of like a watered down squash. Hint of aftertaste but drinkable without being as nice as the grape or apple.

Lemon Lime Sour - a bright green colour. The name says sour but this is quite a lively lemon and lime flavour, quite zesty, although there is a little bit of an aftertaste. Not quite as good as the grape in terms of a refreshing taste, but better than the orange and more exciting than the apple.

Watermelon Madness - I'm not the biggest watermelon fan so I'm not sure if this will be a hit with some. A strong pinky red, it certainly tastes like the name suggests, albeit slightly artificial. I kind of want to avoid ranking it bottom because it's bolder than the orange in flavour and although there's a bit of an aftertaste, it's not too bad. Probably the most marmite flavour.

Raspberry Blue - an electric blue colour. It really reminds me of flat raspberry flavoured energy drinks - this is a good thing though. It's quite a nice taste and while not as refreshing as the grape, I enjoyed drinking it since the flavour was stronger than some of the others.

Order of excellence - grape > raspberry > lemon & lime / apple > watermelon > orange

Honk.

Yearly? do you only train once per week?

do the maths! :D

5gs? Lol. Please say you mean 50?

Apologies just seen the responses

I'm trying to lose fat mainly and build some muscle on the side - so 3x swim 60 laps + 2x 2 hour weights/cardio gym sessions per week

Is 5g dextrose not enough for PWO shake? Don't want too much sugar, it's not like I feel I need more

During the year I might need another strawberry whey but this time round it worked out I needed everything at the same time

Is there anything else, supplement-wise that I should be taking to help with my Stronglifts 5x5 programme? I'm currently taking whey protein and just eating whole foods during the day, usually saving the meat for my main dinner. Probably not eating enough each day, but I still have a flabby belly so don't want to go overboard just yet as I'm only about 3 weeks into the regime. My BMI is 21.5

just try to eat a nice balanced diet and remember protein is a supplement to top up the numbers if you don't get enough from your meals.

if your worried about weight then I'd be careful with protein shakes.

I don't know why but it always seems to slow my metabolism down compared to just eating loads of chicken.

maybe I'm a bit lactose intolerant or something

Wut? each scoop is an extra 100 calories, heavily weighted towards the protein macro. You don't need to be careful with whey at all, your overall consumption you need to be conscious of as it will increase if you begin to use supplements.

Not sure if serious.

I never said it's dangerous just that my experience leads me to believe trying to lose weight + protein shakes doesn't seem to go together very well.

It might only be 100 calories but it seems to slow my digestion down massively and left me feeling bloated.

imo It's better to just eat loads of meat or other high protein foods if you can manage it

but as always posting personal experience on ocuk that may differ from other peoples = laughing stock.

go google a lot of people seem to have the same experiences of losing weight + protein shake = somehow messes up how fast there body processes food.

I was only having one a day as well so not like I was going overboard

As you know it's additional calories.

Could well be due that particular brand/blend not agreeing with you rather than whey on the whole.

Agreed.

Not at all, just unfounded claims are potentially misleading to less knowledgable readers.

Okay.

Complete nonsense, congratulations.

Unfortunately, a lot of people on this board dont quite understand that everybody's physiology and psychology is different and that in most cases, you have to take the "suck it and see" approach when it comes to exercise, nutrition and weight loss. Find out what works best for YOU and then stick to it.

For example, when I go on a low carb diet (and high fat), I get fat and am unable to lose fat, even when I am doing approximately 3 hrs/day of weights/cardio.

When I go on a virtually fat free (high carb/protein) diet, the fat disappears from my body.

Some people just cant seem to understand that what works in theory doesnt always work in practise. An individual's psychology also plays a huge part in what diet/nutrition regime works (or doesnt work).

False.

Some people just don't understand the theory well enough and so decide that there is some mysterious force at work.

Complete nonsense, congratulations.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE!!!!

some people die if they eat nuts but because you don't it's nonsense right?

if you google you will find threads of people saying the same thing maybe they all make it up too?

god forbit I suggest someone doesn't supplement and fixes there diet.

if you lift weights you must take protein shakes bra.
I'm not surprised with this section of the forum though I've seen plenty of times someone says something but they are told to shut up unless they post picks of there body..... about says it all

maybe I don't get enough cardio to lose weight though and those stats in my sig are made up or something...

I really don't think you know what science is.

lol when has this happened?! If you mean the times when trolls have come through and ripped into people's pictures, don't you think it's fair to ask that they put up or shut up?

Also, lol @ cardio for fat loss.

What are you on about!? It's rare anyone on this forum recommends protein shakes without first telling the person asking about them to sort their almost certainly lacking diet first.

I would suggest you may have some kind of intolerance to standard whey or something then, that or you have a seriously sensitive stomach.
