Tabletop Warhammer?

Just found this elsewhere and it made me laugh (Horus Heresy spoilers but I assume everyone here knows the story)

HH as a bar fight

The Emperor, owner of a bar downtown declares his grand opening after evicting the previous owners and buys a round for everyone and leaves the place in the capable hands of his manager Horus.

Horus is ****ed at the new format and wants a dance club instead of a pub and decides to make it happen.

His bouncers, Mortarion, Angron, and Fulgrim (who likes to dance) all agree this is the right course to take the bar.

The Emperor’s most loyal customer, Magnus, files a complaint about this via text message but cell phones are not allowed in the bar. The Emperor tells Horus to get the doorman, Leman Russ to escort Magnus out.

Horus instead instructs Russ to throw him out. Russ instead smashes a bar stool over his head and then drags him out the back door.

Fulgrim takes over as DJ and starts playing some Lady Gaga. Everyone gets down.

Rogal Dorn, working the coat check isn’t too pleased at what’s happening and sends some of the guys to deal with this.

Corax and Vulkan start arguments with Angron and Mortarion. Ferrus Manus has words with Fulgrim about the music. A dance off ensues with Fulgrim knocking Ferrus out cold with a sucker punch.

The three talk tough as their buddies Alpharius, Lorgar, Konrad Curze and Perterabo show up to back them up.

Just as the argument heats up, the new guys smash beer bottles over Vulkan and Corax and have them thrown out of the bar.

Dorn seeing he is outnumbered locks himself in the coat check and gets on the phone to call his friends. While Perturabo and Angron try to smash the door down, Sanguinius and Khan show up for the fight. Gulliman is enjoying a 7-up at a bar across town but says he’s sober enough to drive over. Meanwhile Lion El Johnson can’t get past the line up because he's too busy fighting with his girlfriend.

While Khan revs his harley outside to scare everyone, Sanguinius tries to take on Horus who bitch slaps him to the ground. With all the noise and racket going on, the Emperor gets off the net (where he’s been trying to block spammers all night) and comes downstairs to sort the mess out. Dorn comes out of the coat check mouthing off at everyone.

Horus and the Emperor beat each other up until Horus passes out. Just then El’Johnson sneaks in with fake I.D. and Gulliman finally shows up with most of his Facebook friends (He has over 100 000). Russ shows up but is too drunk to fight.

Angron, Fulgrim et. al grab Horus’ limp body and make a run for the dance club down the street, vowing revenge. Alpharius stays behind in a washroom stall with a trench coat and sunglasses to beat up unsuspecting patrons.

Gulliman and Dorn put the Emperor in his lazyboy upstairs hoping he’ll wake up sooner or later. Gulliman takes temporary management of the bar and institutes a smoking ban and can’t serve to minors anymore rule. He also creates a more standard menu consisting of only meat products. Eldar, Orks and Tau are still banned.

IMMENSE :D

Not the best camera but I hope you can comment on how I could improve the model but it's tabletop quality in my opinion lol

Not bad, your dark areas are dark and light areas are light, which sounds silly but it's a common issue with people "speed painting". Block colour here, block colour there, done.

To really take it to the next step I think you'll need to take longer dry brushing and building up layers. You've lost a bit of definition on the horns and breather pipes with just a bit too much paint. The gun looks a bit flat, is it all gun metal?

I would say deeper shading would help create more definition, black wash (or red wash) in the red armour crevices, the metal looks a little too bright as well, I'd say a black wash and then add a thin layer of metal back on over the top if needed.

A brighter red (or even red with a little orange) could be used to highlight the really raised areas (like the fingers holding the standard and edges of his helmet mouthguard.

Other than that it looks pretty good already, the skulls in particular :)

Hi all can some one help me here please

I want to know how tall a Necromunder character is from top of base to top of characters head please.

I have some but cant find them any where.

As I am here may as well tell ya what I am doing
I have been looking at All Things Zombie Final Fade Out and the STD size for a character is 28mm.

P.S

Does any one in Oxford play ATZ if so please get back to me as I really want to get into this but would love to watch a game of it being played so if some one is interested in hooking up that would be great.

Thanks

Tonight I have learnt that airbrushing Vallejo Liquid Acrylic Matt Varnish cut 1:1 with Vallejo Thinner in a 8x8 room with no extractor, windows closed and no mask is a BAD IDEA. Pounding headache and I'm pretty sure my lungs now have a nice Matt look to them.

Think I will be buying a mask this week! If I had the money an extractor system would be top of the list...

Where do you do the airbrushing near a window etc?.
You could make an extractor fan very easy

Yes the gun is just metal ATM, I am stuck on how to go about it because the model has a lot of red already. Yeah I noticed this with too much paint but I've got another 9 to perfect it haha. Thank you for the comments so far. I might try out a red wash for the armour nd touch it up later. I thought I did the skulls rather nicely too my best bit so far.

Shadowman, definitely get a mask, I got one from little-cars.co.uk a Scott Profile2 Professional half face mask which cost about £30 with a set of replaceable filters*, and it is very good (the small one is good if you wear glasses).

If you do a lot of spraying a proper spray booth/extractor like the Graphicair A300d is a must IMO, we ended up getting one for our garage and it's amazing how well it works, prior to getting it whenever we used a spray can of undercoat it would stink the garage up, and i'd find my nose getting full of the "dust" if I took my mask off, let alone the build up of dust on every flat surface.
With the extractor you can be sat without a face mask on spraying , and basically not notice the smell at all (not recommended, as you should still wear a mask!).

The downside is a proper extractor is about £250+, so it's a lot to spend out in one go, but it should last a lifetime (IIRC the warranty is lifetime, and it's built to be suitable for use in schools/collages etc).

D.Roberts, from memory Necromunda models are the same size as imperial guards, so if you've got some of them you can get a rough size from them :)
Unfortunately I don't have any Guards etc handy to measure at the moment.

*basically one either side.

You can make it easily enough if you only ever use non flammable stuff, but if you ever intend to use with with spray cans, or a lot of the solvent based stuff, it becomes much harder as most fans are not suitably sealed to be safe with potentially inflammable stuff.

Agreed.

You could use a small brushless RC motor I am sure they do not create sparks at the brushes because they dont have em.

You would need to check though but yeah that could work the RPM is high torque is high you could fit a large fan blade to it

It is nearish a window but most of my thinners and cleaners are alcohol or solvent based. No spray cans buts lots of airbrush basecoating and highlighting or varnishing.

Will check out that mask though thanks!

Got some old metal Necromunda House Delaque, I dug out last week, just touching up the base coat with a mind to practise painting again.

necromunda_zps6daf3ff9.jpg

guy on left is 35mm head to bottom of base and 40mm to top of Shotgun
guy in middle is 35mm head to bottom of base
guy on right is 35mm head to bottom of base

Base is 3mm high.

So guess that makes them 32mm high on average :)

Hope that helps you out fella.
