Tabletop Warhammer?

With the guns, I'd make the casing black to break it up, then wash the remaining metal with a black wash to fill the recesses. Then just do a quick highlight of the edges of the casing with grey.

black wash the gun, then dry brush boltgun metal (or whatever it's called now) and very lightly dry brush the edges with mithril silver.

Thank you for your input, I will give this ago tonight my army is slowly coming together with the paiting but I still need to put some more detail on the bases which I will do all at once I think. I think once the squad is complete I might try my hell brute not sure yet though ha-ha

I want to try this but not sure what paints are used

I must say every one here who paints the figures do a really great job im very impressed.

When I finally can afford the zombies and survivers I will post some to but they wont be any where near as good as all the others on here.

But yeah that wont be for ages yet :(

Shami can you link the stuff for the online 40k game again?

Going to try and get it up and running

Of course:

You need to make sure you've installed Vassal and the 40k 5.4f module (guide here)

Then you need to create an army list and set it up in Vassal (Guide here) Have an army list saved in notepad as well as you will need it. You could also use the BattleScribe program (link here) to create army lists. HOWEVER, I would double check it against the relevant codex as it is possible to create illegal army lists in it. Also please note we are playing 5th edition rules.

It also might be a good idea to read this tutorial. It runs you through one turn on Vassal so you can get an idea how things work.

I've hosted all the information you should need on my Dropbox, please email me if you'd like access :)

We also use the PC gaming mumble server (details in sticky in PC forum) for chat so you might want to set that up if you haven't got it.

It all looks more complicated than it actually is, once you've done a turn or two it becomes very simple to use.

Indeed, Checking back here regularly now to see what people have posted :)

Need to find time to paint more, just so freaking busy :( want to get my Terminators done so I can try my hand at the Cultists although I am not impressed they are essentially forcing people to buy the Dark Vengeance set if they want unique cultists.

The red looks like it might be a mix of red gore and blood red, mainly (possibly layered over red gore). The metals actually look like they could be done using NMM techniques but the image is a bit small so it might just be the lighting that makes them look less shiny than metallic paints.

The best advice I can give here is keep your eye out on ebay and some of the 40k/miniature gaming websites that are about. Most have a for sales section where these types of bits pop up.

I bought the chaos part of the dark vengance for 28pounds! I thought for all that it was a bargin ha-ha so at the moment my army is the Chaos starter pack and dark vengance pack with warp tallons and deamon price for HQ

Aye I have been scouring Ebay for sellers of bits. Not found a decent UK based seller.

Was thinking of getting some cadian guards (or whatever they are) and getting these http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Chaos/CHAOS_RENEGADES/RENEGADE-MILITIA-WEAPON-ARMS.html

For some variation in the cultists.

I would check to see what weapons the cultists are allowed, as some people you play expect WYSISWG models, so if its meant to have a bolt gun it has a bolt gun.

Me I am not bothered so much, but just worth thinking about.

Yeah I cannot be bothered with those WYSIWYG people, I'm happy to let people field a bunch of Terminators with weapons they dont actually have on the models as long as it is easy to distinguish who is who. I wouldn't even bother playing someone who did otherwise as I am there to enjoy myself not be picky. Although I can only really see that becoming a major issue in Tournaments.

What could be done is like in real life ya dont know what weapon some one is holding till ya get close enough so lets say on the table is two figures both 6" apart thats close so there for ya place a chip down that has what weapon that character is holding.

It could get messy and hard with lots of figures but meh just an idea
