Tabletop Warhammer?

Oh god lol that would be hard to keep track of, I'd stick with if you want tht weapon put it on your model lol

Which may require conversions and purchasing of additional bits to do so. Chaos Terminators can take Lighting claws yet do not come with any on the sprue... Or if you are trying to make AT Terminators with the Combi meltas and they only come with 1 combi melta per pack with 5 Terminators, Doesn't really work out.

Or even if you consider that base terminators with no ugrades use power weapons yet do not come with enough on a sprue to make 5 terminators with just standard power weapons so you have to have the upgrades (Power Maul, Power Fist, Chain fist) unless you want to purchase additional parts to make them as they should be.

WYSIWYG has its places though. I played a game where my opponent did not declare he was proxying a heavy weapon a model until after we started. His first shooting phase that squad of Chaos Marines with bolters who I thought were no threat at range suddenly sprouted a Lascannon and 1 shotted a Broadside suit I had deployed in cover from his Forgefiend but in full view of the CSM's...

If you need to proxy a weapon or model then declare it and mark which one has it. Better yet buy some magnets and weapon options! :D

I'd have said no to that, I would have thought declaring these things was obvious....

I intent to Magnatise things eventually I just want to get better modelling first :)

My Guard army needs 4 vet squads, 2 squads with 3xplasmas and 2 squads with 3xflamers :(

Just been reading about some Terminator setups for dealing with Hordes.

6+ Terminators with Deepstrike
1 x Heavy Flamer
5 x Combi flamers

All I can say to that is LOL.... that's a whole lot of burney right there.

Or the ultimate tank killing squad:

Logan Grimnar
5 Long Fangs with multi meltas
Drop pod

Long Fangs mean they can split their shooting between 2 targets, Logan's ability means they can fire their heavy weapons as soon as they disembark from the drop pod :D Bye, bye tanks!

Multi-Melta's are shortranged really though. Whilst great for penetration, how many >AV12 vehicles will your opponent really have? 2 Lascannon and 2 Melta is probably better :)

Remember you only get the extra D6 pen at short range (12").

Always nice to reach out and touch someone with a Str 9 Laser!

But that is what happens in army planning though, If you are more about the painting then the contents its not too bad.

Plan you army you should know what is in the box and what you are wanting within that squad. I collect all weapons that I dont use so I always check what i need for them.

Ive had a look at FW just for weapon upgrades but they are very limited on the chaos I find. Ill have a look into the bay and see what comes up there.

Its just my second army what ever it will be I am going to concentrate a lot more on what I want to achieve in the army rather than just getting what I think looks cool atm since this is my first army ha-ha

Yeah that would be my bad lol :)

I would have said no, if he didn't declare it before the game started then it doesn't exist. :)

I get your point, but I would probably buy the extra bits so that I could model different weapons set-ups, or at least have a similar load out i.e. CQC weapons proxying for other CQC weapons, heavy weapons for heavies etc. Either way they should be clearly marked with tiddlywinks or something similar so they are obviously different.

Where possible I try to WYSIWYG though, it's just less confusing.

It was on my army list so technically you can't say no. I will take the fact I did not correctly identify the model, but if the model was carrying the correct weapon then its not my place to tell my opponent what model is carrying what weapon.
