Tabletop Warhammer?

goddamit... went into GW today just to have a look around and chat to a few people...Walked out with a chaos Space marine aspring champion and 5 paints..... sigh..... (disclaimer, None of this was forced upon or sold to me, it was my own choice)

Although picked up some pointers on painting, detail and highlighting from a guy who is using same colour scheme as mine for a space marine army :)

Lol.... No I asked about flesh tones and got advised 2 paints (Which I purchased) I then asked one of the guys about the gold he was using and got advised by him to buy a specific one, and I asked about a wash for horns/bone and got advised on one of those... all 4 of the advisories was by a player in store not a employee :)

Been trying to assemble my Incubi today. As my first experience with 'finecast' (I've read the horror stories) Not impressed at all, some of the back vanes ares miscast (as if the two halves are slightly off centre) and I've had to adjust every single piece to get them to fit :(

Does anyone have any experience making their own transfers or getting them custom-made by someone else? Looking about it seems I could buy some waterslide paper, but would need an inkjet printer for it (frustrating as I chucked one out a few weeks ago!).

How do you guys base your models? In the past I just used to paint the base goblin green and then flock it. I quite fancy trying some static grass etc.

If one uses sand do they just use typical builders sharp sand or a special modelling variety?

I buy aggregate from modelzone. One example is iron ore with two different sized aggregates which I mix and once the base is PVAd, dip the base in. It can be further enhanced with small rocks. GW do excellent base kits but they are shockingly overpriced.

Not sure about transfers but purity seals are a doddle to make.

Update WIP

Pics a bit blurry due to bad lighting :) Will get the proper camera out soon and get some better snaps

Just careful :)

Although I kinda have rushed this model on a bit just to get up to speed.

If I get some more blood Angels I'd need some darker reds to not make the blacklining as harsh. ( Currently running on 5 paints total :) )

Love that Blood Angel. Is that just Blood Red (or whatever the new name is) for the armour?

Base is mephiston red shaded with evil sunz scarlet. I think I mixed in a bit of yellow averland sunset into the evil sunz scarlet to bring out some of the edges

The only shaded red parts are the chest and neck type armor so far

That blood angel looks pretty fine :)

A little reminder to people.
Change your knife blades!

I've been trying to do a bit of assembly today (been under the weather all week, so this is my first bash at them for a while), and couldn't find my normal scalpel, so swapped to one of the new retractable ones I've not used, and it's like night and day :)
The daft thing is, I've got about 100 spare blades*, I just forget to change it.

*So it's not even as if I don't have plenty of spares as I bought a pack of 100:p.

Shami/Hughes would either of you fancy swapping teams?

Been reading up loads on Tau and experimenting and really want a go in a live battle with them :p
