Company veterans with stormbolters, and stormshields, this guys excel on the battlefield.

My tomb king, second model painted in over 10 years, I now remember why I used to undercoat everything in black and not white....

Ok that was painful, I won't bother with a full write up as that was a bit of a whitewash. I'll post a few screenshots in a sec.

It's a shame things had to change, the original battle would have probably been pretty even.

Oh :(

I was looking forward to wiping out another marine squad on the next turn, that assault squad was facing down my broadsides and a squad of fire warriors (and zap!) to be honest I don't think I would have lasted beyond that turn though :p

To be fair we were completely out thought Hughes, Shami knew what he was facing (**** in combat) and built accordingly. If he had had to advance into us though that would have been it, my shooting caused some serious mayhem!

Really it came down to basically two phases of me rolling well. One was me managing to have all but one unit turn up on turn 2, then the second was one squad managing to save 25 wounds in one shooting phase, I love feel no pain.

Well I'm already looking forward to the next game :)

Unfortunately I'm obscenely busy next week at work up and down the country but maybe next weekend if any of you chaps fancy it :)

Good game and thanks much!

Shamikebab's Blood Angels (2000pts) vs No1newt's Tau and LordHughes Imperial Guard (1000 pts each)

Deployment and Allies turn 1 and 2 and Blood Angels turn 1 were uneventful. With the marines all deep striking there were just units moving into position

BA turn 2 - At this point I managed to role 5+ on 7 out of my 8 units (granted I had re-rolls on the assault squads) No mishaps and 3 squads of assault marines accompanied by the Librarian and Sanguinary Guard deployed in a nice clump in the centre. The Meltagun Assault Marines deployed behind the crisis suits and the ordnance battery, the 2 ball preds came on down the IG right flank. Shooting wise the preds managed to wound each crisis suit and kill a few imperial guard. The melta guns of the AM blew up one Griffon and destroyed the heavy bolter on the other.

Allies turn 3 - This was the chance, an incredible amount of fire opened up on the newly arrived assault marines. The Emperor was with them though, only 3 marines falling. One squad coming through a hail of fire unhurt (25 wounds!) The Melta squad fared worse though, the crisis suits destroying 6 of them with their advanced weaponry.

BA turn 3 onwards - At this point I basically destroyed a squad each turn in close combat. The Ball predator and melta gun marine finished off the Griffons and the other Ball Predator finally killed the former Hero of The Imperium Lord Henry David Von I'veforgottenhisname. The Tau Firewarrior squqads successfully killed one assault marine squad with massed gunfire but in the end their losses were too heavy. Shas'o decided this world was not worth it and left the rebel guardsmen to be destroyed by the rampant Blood Angels.

We didn't count up victory points for obvious reasons. Thanks to both Dave and John for playing though, it was a bit of a mismatch due to the last minute changes, I had time to design my force for one purpose. Hopefully the next battle will be better! I definitely want to try a non marine force.

As a last note I found the Blood Angels Battle Theme:
