Tabletop Warhammer?

If you want an interesting read have a look at the unofficial 40k mechanicus army list.

Horribly convuluted and I'm still trying to make some sense but it is massively impressive body of work.

Where can I find it? :)

Please tell!

Can you collect Horus Heresy Legions?

If your wallet can take it. :p

I guess you could just proxy the army using standard GW Space Marine kits, though. Betrayal contains the rules necessary to run Legion lists and includes special characters for Sons of Horus, Death Guard, Emperor's Children and World Eaters. In games of enough points, you can even run the Primarchs for those Legions. I'm guessing in later books we'll see loyalists such as the Imperial Fists, Dark Angels etc. and rules for their Primarchs.

I want it so much, but I imagine the force I'm thinking of would cost half of my annual salary. :o

JUst search "unnofical wh40k codex" in google. It's 3 or 4 options down.

I will have to look into this! :p

Oh god the Deathshroud Terminators!!!!

* fap fap fap fap fap *

Good job there isn't many Primarch models or that would be that for me!

£70?!?! Is it hand stitched by blind Buddhist monks and then imported by nuclear submarine?!?

Erm, no. But you do get some of GW's fantastic IP. Surely that's enough justification? No? :p

It's a book I'd be happy to pay £40 for. £70 makes me think I should just collect the Legion models and not run them as an army. :o

It's currently in my basket on the Mythreal sale along with a Forgefiend, is it a decent book?

I sort of want to get some daemon troops at the same time but not sure which are looking good now!

It's a nice enough book, but I'm not sure it's really worth £30.

I can't see any mention of the old demon method of deployment yet (split force in two roughly equal groups, roll to put down the force you didn't want, with the rest coming in as reinforcements), but I've not really read it thoroughly yet.
I'm going to have to reread it fully when I'm more alert.

I like the daemonic instability roll at the start of the shooty phase, as it adds a nice random element that can both help you (your invulnerable save goes to 4+, Khorne throws skulls at your foes from the peanut gallery etc), or hurt you (your invulnerable save goes to 6).

It also encourages you to take a mix of forces as the potential bonuses are often related to a particular chaos god, so you get additional attacks coming from your Nurgle units or your Khorne ones.

It's as much as some armies in the old days. I'd rather they didn't put the few fancy bits that probably cost them barely anything but mean they can justify sticking another 30% margin on top.

I think that GW's problem is it's getting more and more expensive to be a fan as a child. When I started playing it was a kids thing and then a few people would stick with it as adults and spend the serious money. Now it's so expensive I can't imagine many kids can get into it, so the next generation will get smaller and smaller.

Sorry for the re-post.
Has anyone bought from WaylandGames? Putting an order together, but would like to know if anyone has had dealings with them before.

I looked at Forge World and the prices made my heart stop...I know it's collecters stuff but blimey.

It really depends on what you're looking at. For example, the "regular" Dreadnoughts aren't such a bad price. A Mk IV Venerable with two arms will come to £43; the detail is much higher than the standard GW plastic kit and will generally draw attention. For a centrepiece model or something, it's not a bad price because the quality is good. But when you start looking at putting a whole army together (Elysians, Death Korps, Corsairs, Legion etc.) then you're looking at spending thousands instead of hundreds and that's where it really hurts. :(

Anyone bought any of the Studio Mcvey stuff?

Very tempted by this beauty: http://studiomcvey.highwire.com/product/smm30-nikitta-perostek

No, but that looks amazing.

If they release a Mortarion model a Death Legion army could be on the cards.

Really nice stuff and will keep an eye on releases, might treat myself to the codex come birthday/xmas time.
