Tabletop Warhammer?

Ah, my brother used to have the metal chapter master model from back in the day. Yeah, I like that figure, in fact I really like all of the dark angels character models.

I'm too worried about spending money on a finecast model. How easy is it to return a finecast model and get a refund or a replacement?

I'm told it's really easy. I'd just prefer not to have to do it at all. :p

Yeah the raised armour is staying white. I wanted the sword to be sort of obsidian/jade style.

Ah. How are you going to highlight it? Is that flat white or currently a very light grey? :)

i was painting last night and it took me ages to finish my 2 troops off (orcs) i am going to try and finish my last bike then i will get a pic up of them with my buggie. i need the weather to pick up so i can prime my gargoyles and finish them off to go with my HQ. i love seeing other peoples work on here and its good for some advice.

It's slightly off white with a hint of blue in the shadows, can't really tell with that pic because I'm just shining my lamp straight at it!

Ah. Yeah, it looks like bright white in the picture. I definitely like the blending on the helmet. :)

It's not Fantasy or 40k, but...

Just collected the last part of my order from Gifts for Geeks from the local delivery office. Looks like I will have plenty to read for the next few weeks. :)

Oooh interesting, I'd like to try Warmachine some day, I think there's a Vassal Module? I want to try Infinity too, think that has a Vassal module as well.

Yeah, I'd love to try more games, too. Infinity is one, but there's also Malifaux, Flames of War, Kings of War, Dreadball, some of the GW Specialist Games... I could go on. :p

For my regular gaming club on a Wednesday we do 2000 point battles split 2v2. As such we make up 1000 point lists which have to be balanced due to teams being decided on a dice roll.

Is it wrong I have managed to squeeze in 2 Riptides with Ion Accelerators and Interceptor/Skyfire. Bring on tomorrows game as it will either be them or me who dies fast!

Hope all is well with you guys. I have a question for you all with army building.....If you had to build an Eldar army how would you build it and why?

Depends on points and opponent :p

For my recent 2000pt game against Gooner I took:

Eldrad Ulthran

10 Striking Scorpions

2x 10 man Dire Avengers in Wave Serpents
Pathfinders
Guardian Jetbikes

2 Fire Prisms
3 War Walkers

Eldrad is amazing, he's like an army buffing monster. I spent the whole game guiding and fortuning everything. Dire Avengers were my reserve, I used them on the first Ork mob that got near me and killed them all in one round of shooting, they're very expensive for troops like most Eldar units. The Scorpions were very good, munching there way through the best part of two mobs before they died to the meganobz. Jetbikes I used really badly but are very good in 6th edition. Fire Prisms were excellent against squads but poor against vehicles (playing against Orks I didn't expect high armour but Gooner tookm 3 AV14 vehicles! In retrospect I should have taken Fire Dragons) Pathfinders are...ok. They're good at taking fire (3+ cover save, re-rollable if Fortune-d) War Walkers throw out and insane amount of Dakka but die to a light breeze, definitely worth taking some though just for outflanking.

Just don't play Tau, being able to remove cover saves is going to HURT Eldar hard.

The most important thing to remember about Eldar is that they are a specialist army. Each unit is meant to do one or two jobs at most, so make sure you use them for the role they're designed for, e.g. Warp Spiders are hit and run, Banshees are about devastating charges not prolonged combats, Scorpions are vice versa to Banshees, Fire Dragons are armour hunting etc.

Fixed :p

You're right though, Eldar are one of the 'advanced' armies, like Dark Eldar. When used correctly they can be devastating but any errors in tactics will really, really cost you.

Haha, I did think Banshees were pointless now but ignored that minor issue :D

It's a shame about Banshees, Eldar were my first ever army back in the days of 2nd Ed and the Banshees were one of my favourite units. Probably also one of my least badly painted units as well!

Like JHeaton asked, is FW stuff allowed? Warp Hunters are easily the best tank the eldar have right now.

I probably use them as a crutch, but I consider Fire Dragons to be mandatory for dealing with armour or heavy infantry. To be honest almost everything is worth trying out with the exceptions of Howling Banshees since they're too difficult to get where they're needed without dying, Swooping Hawks which are also fragile and have very low damage output, and guardians which are just generally useless. A lot of people don't think the support weapons are any good either but the only issue I have with them is they take up a heavy support slot.
