^ Airbrush!
Seriously though, I'd hate to do a horde army (even though an all-Goblin army is tempting me). I'd probably never finish it.
Definitely a nice bunch of stuff to be working on, Seb.
I think the Kill Team rules look good, certainly seems close to Mordheim in some ways (which is great - easily my favourite from the Specialist Games range!). I'd like to give it a try soon, although as mentioned it won't be perfect with Vassal. Multi-level buildings will probably be best left out of it...
This evening I got all of the DV Tactical Marines primed and then some zenithal pre-highlighting done. I only did grey, as opposed to the grey and white I was going to do, as I don't want to tops to be too bright. Hopefully I've not applied too much grey here:
With any luck, when I apply the green tomorrow (hopefully, anyway) the effect will be just what I'm after. I've been working with just the H&S Evolution today and I have to say, it's a world of difference from the other airbrushes I have. One thing I can't get used to is just how much more control you have over the amount of paint coming out, it's spectacular. Although at 30 PSI it seems to push out more than the others, which caught me off-guard at first...
What isn't quite visible in the picture is the left kneepads; they're a bit bumpy, because I decided to paint the company markings on (or rather, half of them) before spraying (another tip from a YouTube channel!). I had to prime that part of the leg grey first, then airbrush VMA Sand and then carefully use a brush to apply Vallejo Liquid Mask (I hate this stuff - the smell makes me feel sick and it dries far too quickly, but also flows places you don't want it to, so I may try Humbrol Maskol next) to half of it to get the 6th company marking. Hopefully when I come to peel that off it will only remove the mask itself and not the paint below.
Using the airbrush also made it miles easier to fix the Librarian's cloak. There's some overspray on the surrounding area, but it will be a million times easier to fix that than to go from red to a creamy white colour with a brush. Only trouble is it made the uneven texture underneath much more visible... Think I may strip and repaint this one to get rid of that.
I'm considering being brave and spraying in the shadow colour. Could be...interesting. With regards to the skull on the shoulder pad here, do people think I should make it a bone colour or go for a metallic instead?
