Tabletop Warhammer?

Some fantastic models in WarMachine, but the game itself is a power gamers paradise, there's a hell of a lot of scope for such things in that rule set.

Love Flames of War, very enjoyable game and the company aren't as greedy as GW are. When they release a new rulebook and you have the old one in hardback form, they'll send you the new edition in paperback for nothing.

Would anyone be able to recommened me some tools for cleaning up models in term's of mould lines etc? I'm a bit begrudged to pay the GW prices! Thanks.

The Craft Knife at GW for £8.20 is great value as you get a few blades. I have looked elsewhere an that cannot beaten for quality.

Other stuff, cutting pliers from the BAY

I have a craft knife from HobbyCraft about £5 with 5 blades iirc full metal with a removable rubber coating.

Also have a set of Draper mini files that seem to do the job, I am also after some of the sanding sticks they use in American Guns for doing fine work on the triggers etc.

Ah ok, to be honest I hadn't looked around at other prices but will pick one up then. I was looking at the other tool that comes in the 'clean up kit' that is used for mold lines, is it worth it or is best just to use the knife?

I bought the entire kit for £80. Overpriced but everything you need.

I was tempted by the kit, but it is quite an outlay. Will have to think about it as I wanted to get a couple of models as well at the same time so will be an expensive trip if I go for it :p

Will take a look at the mini files, thanks :)

For a knive the Swan Morton handles tend to be good (I've got a n3 scalpel handle, and two retractable ones). I think the no3 with 5 bblades is about a fiver, and the retractable ones with 2 or 3 blades about £6-7.
The blades are very cheap as well, at about 10p each when you buy a pack of 10 or 100 :) (it can be worth buying a blade box, as that helps remove the blades and then stores them until it's full and you throw it away).
I tend to use a 10a blade for most work, but have a variety of others.

I'm going to pick up the GW mold line tool and brush set as soon as they get them back in stock (they've been out of stock for about a month), as my brother has them and reckons they're great.

I also use some small diamond files, and sometimes a bit of fine 'wet & dry' paper.

Thanks for all the info, seems like the mold tool is worth it then! Might try GW in Bath on Thursday and see if they have it in!

A long time ago, aye.

Games Workshop donny gave away a model I lent them as a bloody monthly prize. Was a heavily modded, perfectly painted work of art /sniff :D

Most likely just painting I'd imagine. Wouldn't know anywhere to play or anyone to play with lol.

That's fair enough. Arguably makes it easier to pick which army/armies you want to paint as you don't have to worry about how they 'play' :p
