Tabletop Warhammer?

I almost have no pile of shame (assembly wise).

I think this is only true where people do a LOT of modelling. Take a basic air compressor on Amazon - £90. That is 9 Color Forge cans or 4.5 ltrs of primer. This is before we even factor in the airbrush and all the ancillieries needed.
I did already have an airbrush setup before I went down the Warhammer rabbit hole :)

I'm hoping to make a bit of progress on mine soon.

Currently finishing off the handful of Ultramarines from Indomitus that have been sat primed blue for years to complete that box, i've got Orks Combat Patrol assembled and primed ready for paint, whilst Leviathan sits pretty much untouched still.

Also still got stuff from AoS Soul Wars but lost interest in the Stormcast really, so will probably only bother doing the Nighthaunt. My head was turned by the Old World arriving, now just waiting to add a few boxes of High Elves (whenever they get released) to my Pile of Shame, along with probably Orcs to have an opposing force.

All I know is the pile of shame is going to grow a fair bit every month when I start getting all that magazine stuff through. I think it's something like seven or eight combat patrols worth.

All done on the Skaken Big Gun ;)

I can safely say I had the worst game of 40k ever last weekend! Nothing at all went my way in the terms of luck. However I did learn an awesome lesson about reinforcing with melee units - it really doesn't work. Just got kited.

So I managed to get first turn and put 2 gladiator lancers, a repulsor (not executioner), predator destructor and 10 hellblasters (as a last resort) in to a repulsor executioner. I did 2 wounds with Oath of Moment and some twin linked. And they were from the defensive array on the repulsor. I've never seen so many 1s and 2s to hit and then 2s and 3s on wounds. He also rolled nothing but 5s and 6s for saves.

Brought my melee blob on in turn 2, failed every single charge, with rerolls.

Put all of the big firepower in to the repulsor again aaaaand, left it alive on 1 wound.

Finally took it out in turn 3 but had lost everything except a lieutenant, captain, impulsor and 5 assault intercessors. Failed every single charge, all of which were sub 6 inches.

Couldn't hold an objective and took too long to dislodge any of his units off them. Really frustrating game.

So, lets talk about addiction to plastic purchases...

Who else has or is going to sign up for the partworks now that it's actually kicking off?

4 Issues delivered monthly, for just shy of 2 years (90 Issues)

Standard sub collects 9 Combat Patrols plus an additional unit not normally in the CP box - Space Marines, Tyranids, Aeldari, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Leagues of Votann, Genestealer Cults, Astra Militarum and World Eaters.

Premium Sub adds an additional unit for 8 of those patrols, typically around £40-£50 retail value (I think one is the Daemon Prince that I guess can play Chaos SM and World Eaters).

Handful of other bits - cheap modelling tools, some citadel paints (original ads show around 30, £80 or so retail?) and brushes, couple of exclusive miniatures, dice, battle mat (I assume card/paper).

Just shy of £900 all in for the standard sub, which nets you £1241 of minis (at current prices) or £1080 for the premium sub, which gets you £1,607 of minis. Plus whatever value you put on the 'extra bits' above.

I think I might have to do it.

Still some slight hesitation that a lot of the Space Marines and Tyranids will be dupes of the Leviathan Box but I could probably gift a few 'spare' minis that couldn't be played at the same time.
