Tabletop Warhammer?

What is the best way to strip paint off plastic models ? My eBay lot came through and while most are rescueable, a few have thick paint on and will need stripping.

I've had a lot of success using Dettol for stripping paint from plastic models. Leave the model to soak for no more than 24 hours, then most of the paint will fall off with the application of a tooth brush (preferably someone else's) and a tooth pick/cocktail stick for those hard to reach areas. When washing the Dettol off a plastic model it's important to use very soapy water, otherwise the surface of the model will be rendered tacky.

On the subject of clubs, Redditch Wargaming Society may be of interest to those folk in the West Midlands. Lots of systems played (Warhammer 40K, Warhammer Fantasy, Warmachine, Flames of War, SAGA, Necromunda, Malifaux to name just a few) and a very good weekly turnout.

Anyone tried their hand at Dystopian Legions yet? Miniatures are fantastic, and I'm just trying to plough my way through the 90 page quickstart(!) manual at the moment.

I have found foaming oven cleaner to also be effective on resins and most plastics, it's worth testing on a bit of the plastics you have first before going all in though. When cleaning I put them in a pot spray on the foaming cleaner cover and leave for a few hours and wash off. DON'T use gasket cleaner on plastics unless you want a molten mess ;)

@fluxvoodoo have been interested in giving Dystopian Legions a bash as I already play a bit of Dystopian Wars, I love the Steampunk thing! (already quite a heavy Leviathans player as well)

I haven't got round to trying any of the other Spartan Games systems yet (so many games, so little time) but Legions looks great. Settled on the FSA for now, but I'm tempted to pick up a set of Britannia at some point too - they look like they'd be fun to paint.

I had a fun weekend at a friends house playing Skaven (vs Chaos Warriors), highlights include the Plague Furnace killing more of my troops in close combat than I killed of the enemy, and I think more than they killed of my monks.
The Horned god thingy getting himself killed on his first turn, casting his first spell....
The Main chaos sourcer of Tzeench getting itself killed on a Fulcrum by a triple six miscast in something like turn 4 or 5, and a warrior unit getting turned into a Skaven unit...

The warplightning canons etc behaved as normal (unreliable and amusing).

We also managed to pick up the Wall of Martyres defence line from our local GW store this afternoon, after seeing it in the flesh whilst away for the weekend (with no way to get it home), and finding out it was sold out almost everywhere.

I'm thinking of starting up again and painting my armies.

Started a Iron Warriors and Dark Eldar army just after 2001 but never finished them and some new Ultramarines to finish as well.

Looking at new supplies I need, paints and brushes, kinda depressing when I used to have a huge collection of supplies that have expired. :p

Really want to get back into this but just cannot decide what I want to start Painting. I'd love to collect Chaos (40k) but just cannot do justice to the models. I started collecting space marines About 2 years back and found them boring to paint (admittedly I only painted a standard tactical squad) then tried Nids and found that even more boring..... then settled on Orks. More interesting as each model can be painted in a unique way rather than uniform.

Tempted to get involved again but start small and see what I can get into. I also really want to get a copy of the Space hulk board game but cannot justify the cost :(

If your painting skills are limited but you like gaming then you do not have to stick with GW. There are many different systems out there.

Try some 15mm games like Flames Of War....less costly than GW and even more so if you buy them from Plastic Soldier, Peter Pig etc

Thanks for that. I have tried Flash but it isn't that good tbh.

Aye i did consider this but the models just do not appeal to me. I am a massive fan of the Warhammer universe and just love the models.

Everybody I know would be clamouring to go Britannia so I would more than likeley go Prussian for that Pickelhaube goodness :D

A couple of our group have gone for the Empire of the Blazing sun, and one is erring towards Prussian I think, but no Brits so far. I think they've got the blend of historical & sci-fi just right with their figures.

No worries, I basically followed the guide here: http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?p=477809

Anyone know of anywhere in the UK that is selling metal 40k / fantasy models online? Trying to get one or two space wolves and really don't want finecast

Generally your best bet for OOP metal models is Ebay or some of the sales sections over different WH forums. Dakka Dakka and the Warhammer Forum would be my recomendations!
