Tabletop Warhammer?

Anyone else planning on picking up some of the new Hobbit releases from GW? Escape from Goblin Town arrived yesterday, but I'm not allowed to get my paws on it until Christmas :(

I plan to eventually but I have a list of models that I want to get my hands on so they will have to wait a bit :(

Going to pick up - The complete 2009 Space Hulk Game, a set of wolf guard space wolf terminators, a set of space wolf space marines, and an original metal space wolf dreadnought - £80 the lot :)

That is ridiculously cheap, where from? Ebay?

A local guy, he's got arthritis in his hand so can no longer paint.

About 5 of the space hulk Models are painted too :)

Right those bases....facepalm lol and the reason for this....Because using smaller bases makes it hard to pile in during combat, with new rules not sure if it would still be bad thing but even so it spoils the models using those bases

i think it's just because the space hulk tiles are small etc

Very easy to stick them on normal round bases if using for 40k

yeah maybe, but spacehulk is for fan boys imo terrible game not my cup of tea at all.

Just got back into 40K after 5 year spell away from them, back to my starting army which are TAU, good thing is that a lot of others who i have battled (9) have mentioned that im one of a small group who can actually use them to their full potential hence why i have won more than i have lost. It was the same for salamanders in which i competed in the gauntlet down at W.H.Q years ago.

Who else uses TAU??

I think if you can keep your TAU out of close combat and you use those drone things that can remover cover saves or increase BS, then the TAU are a great Army to use, they will be my next investment for sure.

got about 1.5k Dark Angels and 2k Tau somewhere in my parents loft, next time I am over I plan on hunting it out and starting again. Tedious task of stripping the paint and repainting it all though.

Just looked on ebay and totalwargamers, OMG sod going to GW for new models! not been in the hobby for a good decade and now wish I had known of similar resources back then. spent sooo much of my pocket money on 40k :P

Close combat is suicide for TAU, the good thing is holding a line so to speak, use battlesuits to either flank or deep strike, Heavy support like hammerheads, broadsides and keep them far back as possible (due to rail gun being 72 inches in range) if you have to take on kroot use them as cannon fodder and charge your enemy, they have a lot of attacks in large numbers such as a horde army and this can be good distraction if you need to capture strategic points (depend on scenario and battle type). Vespids are not so good, nothing special about them so stay clear of them until next major update

They are a shooting army which is clear to all, use their strength to full advantage and you will get results.

Nice, don't buy loads of new models right now as there's rumors online that they having TAU updated like chaos have been recently, im hoping they do asap because TAU need help when it comes to having close combat abilities

This is the main reason why I'll be going tau next, my blood angels are all close combat based.

awesome back story for blood angels, im more fan boy when it comes to blood ravens hahaha never had them but admired them from afar in my salamander phase! :D

How old are you by the way? also how long you been in the hobby?

30, I started on the old 40k bandwagon when i was 14, but stopped 10 years ago and i'm just getting back into it.

Having a 8 year old and 12 year old means i can buy the figures again without the other half moaning too much. :)

I think Space Hulk (1st edition) is one of the best games made by Games Workshop, each to their own :)

Oh no don't get me wrong i never said others should hate it lol i just not into it as others are. and when i see it being played in store its always kids who play it which puts me right off lol

haha nice one, im 24 myself, started when i was 15/16 and my first army was TAU when they were first released. had several armies after that then sold the lot about 5 years ago and now i live with 2 other guys who collect and now we have big place for battles etc so in the words of charlie sheen "winning!"

i knew a few guys who would play bloodbowl in store on the old veteran nights every Tuesday, they were totally into it having arguments and cheering like mad, people walking by the store half cut would just see these guys going mental and it drew in a lot of bad attention haha

Anybody got any recommendations on what paints to use? Was using the Citadel paints sold by GW recently but have been reading a few people recommending the Vallejo paints.
