Tabletop Warhammer?

Hey.. nice thread.

Slightly OT but I have some 3D models on my site of a few 40K vehicles I knocked up and available free. If anyone wants them go right ahead and grab them. They are made for use in Poser, but they are all obj's so can be loaded up in any other app.

(ps all images are from my own servers and not hotlinked, nor is this a plug.. I just thought I would share the 40K love.)

I played Warhammer 40k when it was first relased, I got the starter kit that Christmas 1987 and used to play with a bunch of friends at school I had Space Marine and Eldar armies.

It's completely changed these days, about as close as I get now are the games on the PC.

We also used to play original Warhammer and Warhammer FRP too.

anyone who's interested in checking out some more decent stuff should head over to ammobunker.org , lots of decent project logs and they actively meet to play, it's with these guys that i'm playing some BFG with in june up in notts, should be a laugh.

best place to start is the assault on black reach boxset, it's pretty much everything you need to get you started including the full rulebook in a portable A5 format as well as 2 armies, some dice and some measuring stick, all you'll need is some clippers to take the models off the sprues. and it's reasonable price, you could get something extra for the orks to even out the points, maybe a box of killakans or something...

maelstrom games offers a good discount with free (and quick) postage, i usually buy from them, wayland games is quite good as well.

Thanks chap, will look into that :)

Sounds like there is quite a large hobby base from Ocuk.
Perhaps some form of Ocuk 40k apocalypse game or something should be organised?
But i suppose most people from this forum live miles away aha :)

I live in Edinburgh. Most Ocukers are from England I think.

Awesome, I'll check it out.

That Maelstrom site doesn't actually seem that cheap, I much prefer thinkwargames, or mythreal.

you pay for what you get to be honest, free first class postage and and same day dispatch for orders before 3pm i think as well as good customer service (generally) has kept me coming back.

edit: they do a lot of vouchers as well, often one every month or so.

Wow I used to play this about 20 odd years ago. I still have a massive 40k, warhammer, titans, blood bowl collection.

I still have 100 ultra marines (all solid metal unlike these new plastic ones), 4 of the newer kind dreadnaughts and 2 of the older kind. Few rhinos, landraiders, speedsters (the hovering car things lol) and motor bikes.

Used to cost a fortune then, I dread to think how much it is now.

Very cool ozzy, I have various 3d models of tanks/bike/ships archived away somewhere. About 10 years ago i was involved in a Games Workshop related project, heres a very early clip, created in 3DS Max (can't remember which version) and rendered in Brazil

Nice stuff.. what happened to the project in the end?

I used to paint and collect about 20+ years ago, damn that makes me feel massively old! I actually want to get back into it (once I can afford it again!), I enjoyed it and loved painting. No doubt the missus will find it hilarious!

I never played the games though, didn't interest me, being an arty type it was all about the painting :)

I always wanted to give this a try as a kid, mainly for the painting aspect as I loved to paint model airplanes - about 6 months ago I eventually went in to a GW store and bought a pack of space marines and some paints, I still haven't got around to painting them yet - does anyone have a good guide on the best way to build and paint space marines? I've found a few youtube videos but they all gloss over the very basics!

Cheers :)
