Tabletop Warhammer?

Well for starters youve not painted the spirit stones on the Falcon :) But I guess you said it was still WIP!

On the falcon highlighting the edges of all the panels brings them out, helps break up flat areas of colour.

Also if your going to do any stripes across large areas you can use model masking tape, or normal masking tape that you've made a lot lot lot less sticky. Or even weak sellotape to temporarily mask areas off.

BE carefull of pulling paint off those if you use this method! Thats why it needs to be just barlely sticky :D

---

Eldar in general are sharp, precise and angular so bringing the edges out on armor plates on vehichles/foot troops is what I usually went for.

I used to have a few Eldar armies, including a full mounted Saim Hann Wild rider army which was awesome to look at!

Well if I get my Talons done tonight I will update with a Pic, this is my first time painting in a very long time (about 8 years or so) So it would be good to get some pointers.

If I am highlighting armour would it be best to get it quite watered down so that the two colours blend better and not so bold?

I think I am goin to get my cultists done after since I have a fair few to do and it would be a nice change from just doing plate armour lol

THANK YOU!! I was thinking of a light drybrush of a pale blue akin to the old Ice Blue to bring those edges out. I have noticed that not all the Eldar have their spirit stones painted and I suck ass at painting lens type objects...

Personally for Armor Id just have a hard edge but I would say it kind of depends what your painting to be honest!

For troops armor I would probably blend more...

...However even if I had blended area I tended to always have a final edge highlight a couple of shades lighter at the relevant edge. Depending on where the I thought the light would be coming from :D

For gems on eldar they really are easy :) I was gonna write it out but this pic from farseer.com shows it simple enough in 3 diffulculties I guess

Obviously choose a colour that contrasts your amor plates!

So where my armour is blue I should try for a nice bright orange colour?

Yeah that would work very well however I would go more yellowy orange that just orange orange.

As a base colour with a shade colour and a highlight :)

Also for future reference the blue type above goes really well with a light bone type shade which goes well on Eldar

Not painted in a long long time, but reading this thread is tempting me to get the paints and brushes back out..

I have just started out and I found I dont have much time to play my games as much - This has been taking up my spare time which is a lot more relaxing and I can just stop to help out with my Daughter when needed.

I have a lot of paiting to do, full Chaos battleforge pack and the Chaos Vengance pack with extra cultists lol

I will be finishing a squad of warp talons tonight :| that should keep me busy lol

I am finding this too, I still play PC games just not as much as I use to. Something niceabout sitting down with some models, paints and music on and just loosing track of time.

Oh go on, you know you want to :D

Just been checking out my old GW paints, a lot of them are the original Citadel 18ml round tapered bottle type made by Coat d'arms and sold by GW. best pots they ever made. I've had some of them since the Mid late 80's. the paint is still ok to use. Newer ones I've bought over the years are smaller, badly designed and have dried up :(

Done a bit of searching and Coat d'arms are still selling a lot of the original paints still in 18ml bottles air tight and for only £2 Lot less than the rubbish 12ml bottles that GW are trying to sell now with their multi layer painting system sales techniques :(

can be bought here ---> Coat d'arms /Citadel paints

Definitely going to dig out some old metal GW models I packed away and have a dabble, Got some Kolinsky Sable brushes tucked away as well from years ago.. 20 years of rust to get rid of first though :)

Some of those Models are quality, The female characters are excellent. awesome find ..

If I thought I could do them justice with my painting I'd buy some :)

They were on my short-list to try as a replacement for the current range of GW paints. Will probably try some Vallejo and Reaper paints first though I think, as I like the idea of the dropper for accurate mixing.

I recently invested in some Rosemary and Co Series 33 Kolinsky Sable brushes - quite a step up from the GW brushes I've been used to while comparable on price, and a lot cheaper than Windsor & Newton Series 7. They seem to be held in high regard with the painting community at the moment.

Well I managed to get them all completed. After 8 years or so I've started it again. Hope you all like nd what do you guys think. I can take some pointers

Looks like quite an imposing unit you have there, I like the 'COME AT ME BRO' pose on the front left guy :D

Is that a Chaos dreadnought in the background. Do that next!

Looky good marty :)

Does anyone know of a good place to get some random bits? I want to jazz up my hellbrute base, its quite large and quite boring.(
