Tabletop Warhammer?

Forgeworld is good! I have decided that normal Tau battlesuits are boring so will be using the Forgeworld XV89 suits as standard Crisis Suits. £10 each more expensive but so much cooler.!

Looks like quite an imposing unit you have there, I like the 'COME AT ME BRO' pose on the front left guy :D

Is that a Chaos dreadnought in the background. Do that next!

Ha-ha well its called a Hellbrute but in theroy he is sorta a Dreadnought lol but with some special rules if you play the game. I dunno who to do next atm I have the following to paint

30 Cultists
3 Warbikes
1 Rino
5 Chosen
5 Possessed Marines
Deamon Prince HQ
1 Chaos Lord
1 Hell brute

So I should be kept quite busy lol

Cheers, those basing kits are bloomin expensive for what you get, much cheaper materials on ebay :P

the dreadnought base is pretty cool though so may look into something like that or creating something similar, its all part of the hobby :P

There might be something over at http://www.bitzbox.co.uk

ah excellent, the sort of stuff I wanted :) make it look like my hellbrute has been busy :D

I always wanted to play Tabletop 40k... just never had the time, money, or friends that played it. Now I have the money, but no time or friends that play it. :(

Maybe when I retire, presuming people still play it in 20 years. :D

MUST STOP LOOKING AT FORGEWORLD MODELS

DO IT.... DO ITTTTTTTTT

I have my eye on a Chaos Dreadnaught or Decimator Daemon Engine for when my painting gets slightly better :)

will be my first attempt at magnatising something as well :)

On a side note, Can anyone recommend me some brushes? The Citadel ones are just poop and i'm sick of replacing them all the time as the bristles keep splitting. I have looked into a few but do not know how the sizes relate to the Citadel ones (at work and limited as to what I can look at)

I was in a similar position recently and did a fair bit of research into brushes, finally settling on Rosemary & Co Series 33 - about the same price per brush as GW/Citadel.

Windsor & Newton Series 7 are also highly regarded among figure painters. They are also available in a "miniature" variant, but I've read mixed reports on these as the bristles (being short) don't hold as much paint.

Sizes can vary between manufacturers - I have sizes 2, 1, 0 and 000 in the Series 33, but to be honest the point on these brushes is so good that the larger sizes can handle finer details easily. Brush care is very important with sable brushes, so something like Masters Artists Brush Cleaner & Preserver is worth picking up too.

Just ordered 3 Rosemary & Co brushes today as mine are wearing a little thin after I lost the caps.

I use a mix of Series 33, 401, 99 and 92 depending on quality of model/painting required and size needed. I also use the Series 768 for drybrushing.

The 3 most useful for me are a 3/0, 0 and 1. I will also use a 2 for larger areas and a 10/0 or 7/0 for very fine work.

Anything needing bigger than a 2 would be masked and airbrushed to get a smooth finish.

W&N S7 are very nice but extremely expensive. I paid £12 delivered for 3 Series 33 Rosemary & Co's today whereas a single W&N will cost you that.

I own 3 or 4 'pro' brushes that I save and use on character as opposed to units. They are :
Windsor and Newton Artists Water Colour Sable 1 Round
Windsor and Newton Sceptre Gold II Sable/Synthetic 00
Windsor and Newton Galeria Round 0
Windsor and Newton Series 7 00 + 0 + 1
'Eavy Metal Kolinsky brush

And then my GW Brushes are:

Fine Detail
Detail
Standard
Medium dry-brush
Small dry-brush
Wash Brush
Starter Brush

I also have an old but still perfect 'Lifecolor 542/00' brush. I also have a cheap £1 pack of 5 brushes for mixing things...

I like the Water Colour brush the most to be honest, I have used the 7's but they were expensive :(

Some good info going around here..

If your posting pictures of your Minis you should look into setting up a quick light box to show them off better, even a basic white paper and lamp using a macro setting would show them off good. Liking your models Clartymarty Nice job and nice model poses..

Something like this is cheap and quick. Homemade miniature photo lightbox

Good idea - will look in to that.

Indeed not a bad idea that, Will look into it at some point :)

Been watching some videos just with a guy using a airbrush for basecoats and things.... Damn I want me one of them....

Wait, will that actually allow you to play without owning the models? I'd love to play again but I just don't have the time to collect and paint an army really (and know nobody that plays!)

Well I would like to have ago at it but only play with what I have at home :D try and keep it as real as possible lol but this would be good for my friends to have a look at since we cant always make our usual meet up for computer games and warhammer haha

Would this be a good idea to show some friends how to play the new 6th Edition? how often is this updated

you create an army list for any army you want you dont have to own them, so potentially a good way to test new armies before buying them.

You do need your own copy of codex's and rulebook but that can be obtained from various sources (codex on nexus 7 = win!)

Right thats not too bad then, I have both my codex and rule book on my galaxy tab lol saves carrying round loads of books. I am not sure how this works but I will deffiently try this out and test out armies like you said :)

well I have not tried it myself yet, just read up about it because it sounded cool and would be pretty cool if the people in this thread could play each other :)

I plan on setting it up tonight or tomorrow night and giving it a whirl.
