An interesting battle, two armies that operate on the strike first, strike hard principal.

Salamanders came out on top 8-2 in a Crusade game (2 objectives, kill the warlord, linebreaker vs Kill the warlord, first blood)

Both warlords died to Instant Death! (Belial to multi-meltas, Vulkan to Krak Missiles (I failed 2 2+ saves...)

That was not a day for heroes... :p

Edit: Played Split Fire incorrectly; should have taken Leadership tests to see whether or not the model could select a different target. Sorry. :o

Err, good point. :p

I definitely don't want to give up on a pure Deathwing force, but I do think a few tweaks need to be made and a lot of learning how it rolls on the board (not to mention rolling better for saves) is required. :)

Let's have some photos! Made a mini lightbox and borrowed my dad's expensive SLR for the finished Incubi...

I've realised there is such a thing as a camera being too good. Half of these flaws I can't even see with the naked eye :p I still need to water down my paints a bit more I think. Overall I'm happy though as they're my first models back :)

Also a couple of WIP shots of Asurmen, very happy with the cloak so far. Quite a bit of work left to do:

  • Haven't decided on plume colour (going with yellow and red at the moment)
  • Currently white bit of ying yang will be blended to yellow at one end
  • Sword and Catapults will be black marble effect (need to get some gloss varnish!)
  • Still working the helmet up to light blue/white at the bottom

Looking good. Really liking the work on those Incubi, the contrast between the Klaivex and the rest of the squad is good. What colour did you use for the shading on Asurmen's cloak? It's nice and dark. :)

I'm still trying to work out which paints to get from Reaper. It would be so much easier if I could walk down to a shop and see what they look like in the bottle! I sort of have a list of what I need, as far as the DakkaDakka conversion chart goes, but that's going to cover the Dark Angels only. Not sure if I should take a plunge and put together a set that will be able to tackle most projects, or just play it safe for now in case I don't like the paints as much as the Vallejo ones... :o

I painted it Khorne Red, then watered down chaos black in the folds. Then worked the Khorne Red up through Red Gore to Blood Red through about 15 layers! (Currently at about 4:1 Red Gore to Blood Red)

They're pretty quick though, I just hold it under a light until they dry. I've ordered some paint retarder to have a proper go at wet blending.

Also I'm probably going completely overboard, I bet you could do it a lot quicker!

It depends on what I'm doing, I suppose. Unless it's a character model it's usually basecoat, wash, clean up and highlight. :p

:p

I'm hoping that getting the priming and basecoating done quickly with the airbrush will eliminate most of the trouble I used to have getting armies painted up in a reasonable amount of time, but only time will tell there. :)

Oh god its bad, Im looking at the new rip tide battle suit and thinking, its a big model £50 doesn't seem too bad, must not buy!

anyone up for a game at some point this week? 1k points.
