Tennis

The guy he is playing next is the guy that 'retired' him after a 5 setter at the AO.

Wonder if Murray will reverse that history now. Absolutely expecting nothing from him next match though, he has more than exceeded expectations.

Yeah, if Murray's hip hadn't failed him, and he kept up his 2016 level, I honestly think he would've been able to bag at least 3-4 more slams. Possibly more. 2016 Murray could only be stopped by Djokovic.

Murray is easily one of the greatest players of all time, he just had to compete with the 3 GOATs at the same time. Without those 3 we could have very well been calling Murray the GOAT.
Legend, nothing else you can really call him at this point.
A bit over the top. He's a legend of British Tennis but there's arguably only him and Fred Perry could claim that status. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan and supporter of Andy even though he's more often than not a "hard watch" but lets not confuse these heroic efforts post hip surgery with GOAT status. Its disrespectful to players who have achieved a lot more in the game. Andy should have had more than 3 slams. His Olympic golds put him ahead of many other players but realistically you've got to have Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Borg, Connors, MacEnroe, Laver, Lendl, Sampras, Agassi (to name a few), well ahead of Sir Andy. Losing 5 Aussie open finals hasn't happened to many players!

I watched highlights of yesterday and it was great to see him moving so well and striking the ball so competitively. Under the circumstances to play back to back 5 set matches is incredible and I'm very pleased for him to prove me and many other doubters wrong. His chances to progress further are hampered by the crazy scheduling but lets hope he can conjure up something on Saturday.

No, I put Murray firmly on the same level as Borg, Connors, MacEnroe, Laver, Lendl, Sampras, etc.

The fact is Murray had to constantly deal with the 3 GOATs all throughout his career, none of the other greats did. You're downplaying Murray due to his results, while ignoring who his opponents always were. That's not fair to Murray.

I remember seeing a chart that had ranking points needed to reach #1 status, and Murray was firmly on the level of all the other greats. The only people ahead of him were Nadal, Djokovic, and Federer. They blew the doors off those points records.

Don't think he'll come through today but it's the first time since his comeback I genuinely believe he's still capable of being a top 10 player again.

If, and it's a big if, that happens, he'll be seeded and avoid the likes of Berrettini in the early round of tournaments and might be able to reach the later stages again.

Loving that the Aussie commentator keeps calling Bautista Agut "Spaniard". Not only can be clearly not say his actual name, but it's also making the whole thing feel like Gladiator

I have really high hopes for him making one more deep run at Wimbledon.

They just need to rig the draws so he avoids servebots like Isner. :D
