TERA release date announced.

That was one thing I was expecting was the fights to last much longer and be very skill orientated and that was the thing that originally drew me to TERA however like you said there is so many 1 shot skills and stuff like that, 1v1 PvP is good but it's going to be very rare you're going to get a 1v1.

I've had to stop playing KTERA I found playing the betas and a game I knew I was going to just stop playing when the EU version is released I was burning out. So I've taken a break from TERA until release. I generally don't play betas as I hate them.

I still think the EU version will fail in a way because of the people running it and they have a bad track record and also generally the more recent Asian MMOs have failed...

Don't get me wrong I love the game I think it's great I can see it having a cult type following but it does seem loads of people are already fed up and leaving but I think part of that is due to the betas being for 2-3 days then having to wait 2 weeks ( if not playing US or KTERA )
 
Any of you played on the US servers from the UK? If i play at launch it'll be on a US server as the guild i'm in is from all over and it's usually the middle ground but i'm a bit wary that with this being FPS targeting ping will be a huge factor. If any of you have done this so far, how is the ping and how much does it affect PvP?

I guess you could say it's like playing counter strike or a FPS where you have 30-80ms ping vs 120-250 ms ping..

It doesn't really matter overly in this but you can tell the difference.
 
Tried it last night and this afternoon and i'm not getting the hype. The supposed FPS targetting is more point in the general direction and shoot or lock on and hit spacebar. The quests are terrible, which is a shame considering the XP from them is so high they're the only viable way of leveling.

The graphics are decent for an MMO but again not what i expected from reading others praise.
 
TERA will have the instance finder ( LFG from WoW ) in at release ( well the US version anyway ) they are not sure if it is x-server yet.

Head start cap is 38 which I'm a little disappointed about.

In regards to the above, I will say out of every class I played archer was the worst for PvM for me, I hated my experience as an archer for PvM although I got to the end of your post and saw you put WoW-Killer and kind of instantly forget everything you said -.-

The LFD is not cross server, there was a post on it yesterday. One of the mods confirmed that it would only search your server, but would search all channels.

What didn't you like about the "WoW-Killer" part? I had to put something like that in or I would have been pelted with stones by the trolls.

Well I've seen the screenshots and they don't seem convinced and also one of them said on twitter "Testing cross server lfg on cb6" I think it was, will try and dig it up later. I know at start it may be same server but I can see it progressing in to cross server as after all KTERA has x-server LFG.

Actually you raise a point if you hadn't put that I think they would have hunted you down, I just hate the term WoW-Killer, things should be able to coexist but can see why you put it now.
 
Played a bit on the EU and the US servers.

We're leaning towards the EU servers atm as tbh the mapchat on the US servers was unbearable, filled with idiots.

Whats everyones views on frogster atm ?

That seems to be the one worry most have it's Frogster... They don't have a great track record from what I'm told but I don't let that put me off a game to be honest, I'm still playing EU.

I agree, and I hope that X-server LFD comes, less waiting time in my eyes which is all that counts. I also agree that WoW-killer is a nasty term and I even mentioned that I didn't like brining up WoW as I believe that a game should be judged purely by it's own standards and without comparison to others. I personally believe that MMOs can coexist. I have played games like Runes of Magic and Last Chaos alongside each other.

And you're right, area chat is horrendous. I even snuck that in at the end of my review.

Aye dont know which is the lesser evil... Playin EU and letting frogster run the show or play US and put up with the bunch of muppets playing :(

I'm going with the EU

Event times will be our timing ( if there is any event )
Having a decent latency against people of equal latency will mean a higher chance of winning, I don't care how good you are if you're up against someone of relatively equal skill level with a 20-40ms ping and you've got 120-160ms then you gotta be really lucky to win.
Less Americans.
 
Got an email today saying I've been accepted into the closed beta for this weekend! I can't wait to try out this game as it looks amazing. Looking forward to testing out the new features and the aiming system, rather than the bog standard point and click system.
