Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

I've been playing mediumcore only with some friends on a private server and I think we spend at least 50% of our time just retrieving items :s

It's awesome having the extra challenge but also insanely painful.
 
Got most of gold armor now. :) Took ages to mine all that gold but worth it as im nice and shiny gold now. Well cept the bottoms.

That massive centipede tho when i tried the hellivator got me good, tho i got him half way down i think.

The worst part is losing the gear outright, i dont really care if i have to spend 15 minutes getting back to it. But to get back to find nothing remaining is a bit of a joke.

I think the devs should change it so that items dropped after death have a higher priority and wont disappear after a short time.

When i said to evilsod that I would quit if I didnt get my items back i wasn't joking. Loosing all my gear twice is already 2 times too many.

Im as stubborn as a mule so I wont be making a softcore character. I think I will stay well clear of hell until i get a cobalt shield(?)

If you see me online, I am always happy to help you get your items back if it happens again. I know how painful it is!
 
Decided to build my own house on my home world, rather than making the farming rooms, will leave them for the rest of the weekend. I've got quite a few materials, but not much in the way of ore, which I need for metal bricks, a bit of ore farming is needed!

Yeah as Reeve said, the problem isn't getting the items back which is part of the challenge but them simply vanishing. Would be kinda your own fault if they fell in lava (though no less frustrating) but because the server has an item limit (not sure if its over the whole world or just an area) they vanish. He died in the jungle while I was 200ft away and I simply couldn't find his gear anywhere.

Hell is a fun place... they really changed it (given the very small section I've seen). Lava Slimes are a pain but not stupidly lethal now they don't drop lava but the Hellstone... damn thats gonna be tough. We found an Obsidian house (then Col got knocked off and died) which unfortunately had nothing in it but there were pockets of lava everywhere and only small amounts of Hellstone which given that they now spawn lava also is absolutely lethal to mine.
 
Would anyone be able to give me the server details over steam? Same username as here, would like to start a new character as im bored with my end game one :)

Reducing the spawn rate of the fire impy things has helped a lot. The fact that hellstone is sporadic, combined with the fact that you can no longer "block out" lava, has made mining it an incredible challenge.

Yeah, came across lots just in the path of the tunnel. The jungle always seems to get an insane number of hearts (and chests too). It is a much more dangerous place as of the recent patch though.

And i almost lost all of them. Atleast i wouldnt have lost my gear at the same time :p

Crafted myself a chakram now, not sure if its better than the harpoon or not, they pretty much do the same thing for the same damage

If anyone wants some of them, just ask, im online right now
 
Think I'll go for a Blade of Grass actually. Between the Harpoon, the Musket and the Minishark I pretty much have ranged weapons covered and the Blade is a nice improvement over my Phaseblade.

I'm trying to get my home symmetrical before I start putting stuff in it, so far I've only build half of it (it's a circular shape like my tree house), given that two of my brothers are visiting I probably won't get a whole lot of time to play tonight. ;)

Whoever it is remove it please and fill it in.

Edit - It was SuperTronNarwha, i have bricked it in, left ur stuff on top, ill give u the torches next time ur on about 25 or so. Please no one build near my place, theres a sign saying my home, its got twin doors to get in and stuff. Ta. Anywhere, i.e top surface, sides, underneath. Plenty of space as its a big world, so no need to build near. ;)

Tunnel complete to the extreme western edge of the map with an elevator to the top of the ocean and bridge to the nearest land mass. Also placed a house there, but beware, there is corruption on the ocean edge!
 
I've built a mini house (no bed, I just needed somewhere to make Glass) just over the western ocean too. Theres also a few glass air holes at various points under the water so you can go play with Sharks.

Hoping we could defeat Skeletron tomorrow night if people are up for it. Would rather get as many people involved as we can as it can only be spawned again via admin commands.

They've been very sneaky with the new key mechanics. Golden chests are opened via keys found in the dungeon and are single use, those include Floating Islands. Shadow chests are opened via keys found in dungeon chests and are unlimited use.
