Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

I dunno what it was like before 1.0.5 but Vilethorn could easily be one of your primary weapons throughout most the game. With Jungle set you had to spam it almost none stop for minutes to actually run out of mana and with a Starband too it was absolutely impossible. It would struggle with certain enemies like worms and ones with really high def but in general it was a strong weapon. The fact it could damage through objects was the main reason and of course the way it stunlocks enemies and damages multiple ones. Its the only magic weapon that still has a place for me. The deviance for damage and the magic crits seem to have made it even more powerful though the change to the magic system has taken its toll.

They took Magic the wrong way really. It should've been done like health regen. Slow and steady and Magic weapons could've been made powerful enough to be worthwhile. Would've meant regen items and potions would actually have a place... I don't think I have ever used a Mana Potion and the only reason I'd use a Restoration Potion is because they restore twice as much hp as a Healing Potion.

I had an email about a youtube comment on one of my terraria videos earlier. I uploaded 5 of them just to show OcUK how our ocean generator ended up looking. Didn't expect 6500 views between the different vids lol. OcUK have very kindly sent me a refund for my rma'd memory and said they will send me a replacement soon for my rma'd motherboard. My main rig should be working fairly soon, I'll record me making the goku statue. :)

Anybody here good at video editing, who can help me out? :p

Wow those are massive engineering feats.

Did you use a map editor? I can imagine it would get very tedious hacking out every other block after placing each layer.
No, it was done on the OcUK server hosted by FrenchTart. :) It took 4 hours to build, about 5 people helped me during that time, though not all at once. I'd say I only did about 35-40% of the total work of putting it up.

Though it took several days to finish because it wasn't working.

Edit: I've had about 7 likes and 17 dislikes between the vids. I feel like Rebecca black with such a bad ratio! :D

Entrance hall w/ portcullis, kitchen, dining room, smithy, alchemists quarters, brewery, seamstress' quarters, treasure room w/ portcullis' (made out of Hellstone Brick) and torture chamber complete with Iron Maiden (use your imagination :p).

And a throne room, bedroom w/ en-suite bathoom, secret back exit into the graveyard and spike lined path to the treasure room. Only high levels dare enter :p

I'll take that as a compliment ^^

And its taken me bleeding ages. I've spent more time in Hell stripping obsidian buildings than I have mining hellstone ><

I was hoping to put some corrupted trees in there but you can't plant Acorns in corrupted grass :(

It took me a total of 12hrs to build my underground fort that was on the previous server, this had a cinema, swimming pool and church. What was the timescale for yours?, must've been well over 6!

I really couldn't say as its been getting done in pieces. I suspect its probably closer to 10. Started out making the obsidian entrance and central tunnel, moved on to making the giant greenhouse which took a while. Then I started on the house itself yesterday or the day before. I didn't have any real design apart from that it'd have a Hellstone treasure chamber and I intended to make a torture chamber to put the Guide in :p

Well done man, looking great. :D

Why so many gravestones up top though? You been butchering newcomers? :p

Hehe, nah I've been collecting them ever since the start. Plus I thought it'd be nice and cliche to have a secret exit behind a grandfather clock coming up in a grave :D

FT, biggest pain in the ass was the Obsidian. There must be at least a 1000-1500 obsidian bricks in there and at least 10000-15000 obsidian brick walls. There are a lot of bare buildings down in hell. I was disappointed that you can't make Hellstone Brick Wall :(

Would be nice if there were more decorative items. Some more gothic things mainly.

Very nice Evilsod! Have you tried making a normal tree grow and then using corruption seeds on the dirt once the tree has grown?

I did think that would probably work but I just couldn't be arsed. Its too likely that someone might chop them down which would make it a wasted effort.

The corrupted trees just look like greyish regular trees anyway. They should really be dead and twisted to get a decent effect.

Tried to run fraps earlier to record a vid, my fps was around 20 without recording, and around 5-8 whilst recording, almost unplayable! :D

The Terraria window said Terraria - Mr Bones and the Temple of Blood Moon earlier. :p Nice reference. ;)

http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/what-will-be-fixed-1-0-6-1.51096/

Bugfixes coming in 1.0.6.1

● Fixed a bug that would cause chests to contain stacks of empty item.
● The crafting list now correctly updates after using the container loot buttons.
● The direction bathtubs face when placed is now correctly sent to the server. This prevents bathtub duplication issues.
● Smashing Obsidian Walls no longer gives Obsidian Ore.
● Walls that are automatically placed to fill small gaps are now correctly taken from the player’s inventory.
● Fixed a bug that causes Green Slimes to get stuck in the ground and start sinking.
● Player ghosts no longer move when typing.
● Fixed a bug that would cause mana to sometimes not regenerate when the player has 0 mana.
● Slimes no longer chase the player in water when they are not in aggresive mode.
● Lesser Restoration Potions and Restoration Potions now only heal for 50/100 life and 50/100 mana.
● Lesser Mana Potions and Mana Potions now only restore 50/100 mana.
● Changed the way the value of stacked items is rounded to fix selling/buyback inconsistencies.
● Some items can now again be placed in lava, this includes clay pots and fire blossom seeds.
● Fixed a bug that would cause shadow orbs to me smashed during world generation. This was causing meteors to start spawning before the player is at the appropriate gear level.
● Generated dirt walls now correctly blend with player placed dirt walls.
● Boomerangs now reset correctly when you use your magic mirror if they are still flying.
● Mediumcore characters now correctly drop ammo on death.
● “Misc” has been reworded to say Shoes on the shoes color settings screen.

Also, the following ARE NOT consider bugs and are working as intended. To note, the last changelog did not list every single change made to balance that happened, so many people are reporting changes that happened assuming they are bugs. Ill be updating that changelog (here on TO) as well as I come accross important enough changes that we forgot to mention to list in there.

Not Bugs

● Flamelash now only hits once.
● Floating Island chests being locked.
● Cobwebs breaking after a moment of being stuck in them.
● Shadow Keys remain after use.
● Houses in the Underworld have a chance during world gen to ALL be obsidian. It's not a rare chance for just one to be.

I can't help but laugh that people actually reported cobwebs breaking and floating island chests being locked as bugs...

And the change to Restoration potions makes them terrible again. Mana potions are pointless in the current build because of the 60 second block on healing and the fact you never really use mana anyway for combat. No real need to make Resto pots now as they provide no benefit. Fix to lava will be handy.
